My granddaughter wanted the little mermaid carved into a pumpkin a few years ago. Wish I had a CNC but all I had were knives...

The 60-66 GMC trucks were the best looking trucks of the era (IMO).
Look at that frame, 30 years older than the oldest Tacoma and in better shape than some 3ed gens.

Your alignment looks a bit off... :boink:

I wonder how a RotoZip tool would work for that. :D

Yes very little surface rust on the frame. Body was the same. Worst spots were the bottom of the fenders. Already cut that out and treated the rest. Being a California truck all its life helped, even with never being under cover for the last 60 years.

Definitely one of my favorite looking trucks from that time period.

You don’t think it will roll with the alignment like that? o_Oo_O

Yes, my better half needs a couple of crowns to finish up from our last trip, I'll probably just get a cleaning and check up. Our youngest is getting married in June so he decided to come for the first week as a last "single" trip with us, he has been once before and really enjoyed it. After he leaves, a friend will be flying down and joining us for, I think 10 days, then we'll have the rest of the time to ourselves. We'll be gone a month and we're thoroughly crisscrossing the country. Should be an adventure.

    Hey guys! Good morning.

We’ve got two new openings at our New Milford, CT location and are excited to add two great people to the team! Follow the link below for more information.

1.) Customer Experience and Digital Marketing Specialist: This is a customer-facing role and the right person is one who is ready to embrace our ‘Customer Journey First’ core value from customer support to social media comments and forum discussions and more.

2.) Product Assembly and Packaging Wizard: This is pretty self explanatory and will likely have pick/pack component as well. A great way to get started in the industry and get exposure to a lot of different aspects of the business.

Please share this with anybody who you think might be interested and it local to our New Milford, CT area. We’re ready to move quickly on both of these when we find the right fit!

Morning. Kids are off school today for a 4 day weekend. So I decided to fire up the griddle for breakfast. I love the versatility of this thing.

So, just a general project post, not so much an update but maybe a little one.
I have a real job as most of you know and it takes at least 40 hours a week and that's fine. I have been working for money since I was 12 lol.
Since June of 2023, I have been working in the shop almost every evening and on weekends. I sometimes take a Sunday off or a Saturday morning, but I probably average 12 hours of woodwork a weekend. I have built some cool things and most are documented in this thread. You guys are kind and I enjoy the vibe here and Rusty is a saint lol.
I'll tell ya tho, these 4" Maple coffee tables are kicking my butt. They are extremely simple (four pieces per table) but the fitment is incredibly hard. I have spent many hours this week with a chisel and a piece of sandpaper to close any obscene gaps ( a sixteenth in this case) to get fitment to look like it was milled on one of Shane's machines. I am doing this with basic hand tools and man, it is tough! Tonight I finally got the good fitment on the pieces except the shelf. Tomorrow I will take a sixteenth off the length and a thirty secondth off the width. Anything after that can be fixed with a sander lol. Point is, it's hard to get 0.03125 with a chisel. I did it tho because, these tables only have four pieces that interlock. Any error in fitment will stick out like a sore thumb. So, thanks for listening and here is a pic of a test fit and stain of the wood and a dowel plug to see the contrast.

Very amazing that it is still in the family. My dad always tells a story about it when my brother was little around 1988 or so. He got a knock on the door and when he answered the guy had 5k in cash and wanted to buy the truck right then and there. My mom immediately said yes but dad said no and stuck to it. The only reason was it was his grandpas truck and he couldn’t let it go.:thumbsup:
