Plus - Leaving work at noon.

Minus - Going to the 'Yota dealership for a Highlander recall.

Plus - Talked my kid into picking me up to go to lunch.

Minus - I know they're going to bombard me with "wanna trade her in?" BS as I've already received 2 emails about it.

Plus - I'll probably get to take a look at the new Taco.

Possible bonus plus - Depending on how long the recall takes, I might get home earlier than usual.

 

So kid I been working with training is doing well! He retains info and picked up on running the machine well provided it’s a programed part.
Running manual he struggles but today he gave his notice.
Offered better money at a place that makes soap.
He says he learned a lot in the short he was with me.
He was super proud of the parts we made yesterday one was a little 1” thick part we made from a piece of 2.5 round stock. It was annealed material and what we had.
Pretty sad a soap factory pays more than a machinist position?
And I have him with me training still until he leaves?
I don’t get it but what the hell,
I can see the end of the tunnel so I just ride on!

I told him to pick the place. I'll find out what he picked when we get there. I'm betting on a burger joint of some kind but he might surprise me.

 

My daughter likes Kotos it’s like 40$ a head but they put on a show when you sit at the grill!
She says you don’t have to pay ours but she knows I will anyway!

 

Power lift motor for the pop up camper, I figured it was loud for a reason. Replacement is on and SO much quieter! The manual lift adapter shaft had been sheared off, I was hoping to be able to weld on a sleeve or replace that shaft/gear. Probably not, but I’m looking into it.

That’s a mixture of old grease, rust, water, and who knows what else.

He chose a Chinese place we haven't gone to in years. It's gone downhill. Wasn't horrible, but there's better in town. Probably won't be back.

 

Dealership said our cabin air filter needs IMMEDIATE ATTENTION and wants to hit me for $80 to replace a $15 filter.

Hard pass.

Not new. They did the same thing with my 2005 Pilot.

The best part about that one is they couldn't POSSIBLY have checked it because there was a plastic cross member that needed to be cut out the first time it was replaced and it was still there when I changed it that weekend.

 

I told my wife a hole in my tire requires immediate attention. A cabin air filter will (almost) never require immediate attention.

 

Was just there myself. Got a couple of filters & inquired how much for a set of U bolts. At $71 a piece, think I’ll measure & get ‘em bent locally. Bet $10 each will more than do.

 

Always check the timing. Fully..
