I never would have either, straddling it was my best option in the .01 second I had to make a decision. Running off the road to the right crossed my mind as well but having $900 worth of lumber on it crossed that idea out fast.

 

Just looked at the back of the trailer and there’s blood and hair all over the license plate.

 

Sometimes thats best option...side roads here are pretty narrow and shoulder drops off right past white line. Was pulling boat to lake and some kind of big hawk was in road and no way i could swerve to miss it...didnt even get put on brakes

 

Still think You made the right choice. Only the outcome was wrong. Glad you’re both unscathed

 

Bummer on the trailer axles being bent, you think she's toast? Or is it fixeable?

Not trying to toot your horn or blow smoke up your keyster Creed but if these big ego knuckleheads I work with out here at the space center had half the skills you do, they'd be walking around swinging elbows like they're 10 feet tall struttin like a peacock. You're an incredibly valuable asset. Keep that in mind.

I’ll take em out and try to straighten them or cut the bent part out and weld some more pipe in

 

I try to look at life that way as well.

I had a similar experience with a dead coyote in the middle of the freeway many years ago. I couldn't avoid it and had to drive over it. Thump! I was in an older LS1 Camaro with full hotchkis suspension that had about 4" of ground clearance on a good day.

When I got home I hosed the underneath of the car off the best I could, but the dog said I missed a few spots. Every time the dog got a chance to run in the garage he'd sniff the whole car and pee on the tires.

I miss that car.
