Gorgeous ride! Is that a z28 hood or was it born with that hood? That is my version of Rusty's 66 Fairlane.
I had a 13 RS in midnight blue that I had chipped, put exhaust on, few other things and a tune to about 350 HP, loved that car but when things got serious with the old lady, one needed to go. I will have an SS in that generation sooner than later.

It's the original hood with some work done to it :D
The car is a 6 speed manual transmission, I should have driven it more but I have other car and a truck, so it's been in the garage as more of a visual satisfaction to me :anonymous:
Thinking about parting it away but I've put some additional works to it and I have not been able to stiffen up my decision, i.e, OEM Camaro Navigation unit, hood vent, ZL1 wheels, painted brake calipers just to name a few:anonymous:

Truth in that! After the transmission lines, exhaust work, power steering lines (all due to rust), my AC just went out. Light flashing, no codes. Cause TBD.
Yes it does! How’s the new toy @RustyGreen ?

    Sweet ride @mit88
    Enjoy!

Well manly men it was a day.

I didn't get down to the garage until about 3. Tinkered with the choke so the 650 pound cast iron dinosaur under the hood would start a bit better.

    KIMG4221.jpg

It is a FE series engine in Ford terms.

FE stood for Ford/Edsel - for the ones too young to know Edsel was a very short lived division of Ford (1958-60), without lots of words it was one of those "looks good on paper" ideas.

This is a 352 cubic inch engine, the smallest FE engine offered this year.
It was however the third up engine of the 8 offered in full size Fords for 1966.

    KIMG4222.jpg

The idle isn't quite right but she revs up smoothly so...

    KIMG4202.jpg

I made a few trips around the block, came back and had a look under the hood - nothing was smoking or leaking so I drove 25 miles. :):):)

Sweet ride Rusty- just curious on a couple things...
You think orig paint or an older resto?
A car of that age in that condition had to have lived in a garage and pretty much never driven in the winter in your neck of the woods right? I would love to hear the provenance of the car too, what do you know about where it came from and who owned it? Thanks for the thorough run down, as always...

    @Hunterdc1

The first owner put it in a barn in 1985.

    KIMG4224.jpg

The fellow I bought it from got it in 2010 and got it moving - brakes, cooling system and such.

He drove it a bit for a few years and then put it in his barn in 2013.

The interior is amazing both in condition and in style.

    KIMG4214.jpg

Something to remember - Ford, Chev & Plymouth proudly called themselves "the low priced three" - their market was cars for the working man.

Ford traditionally marketed with 3 ranges:
    Base - Custom
    Mid - Custom 500
    Top - Galaxie 500

The LTD was a new package on top of the pedestrian models offered luxury features that just weren't available in low priced cars of the day.

The details in the door panels & courtesy lights, 7 in this car, were a big deal 60 years ago.

    KIMG4211.jpg

These quarter lights are so slick - there are speakers behind the grill section, again a big deal back then.
