    Our job is to take the Engineer's design, and make it. :rofl:
    I once worked with some Machinist from Germany. They told me Engineers over there have to spend 2 years in the shop in order to get their degree. True or not IDK.
    Now all you need is a big horn to go with the new hood ornament!

    When I worked for a heating and air company after high school, one of the owners would find a piece of scrap 2" x 4" maybe 4-6" long and sketch out the underneath of a house. We would make the duct work for it and it always fit perfect around supports or whatever was under the house. It was a gift he had.

    At my way back old job we had a plumbing contractor boss who was on site almost all the time for 15 years, the facility was so large that there was always a project going on. Near as I can remember we had at least 15 different piping systems, probably more.

    You could walk up to him in the hall and ask about a pipe on the other side of the building, he would close his eyes and pause about 3 seconds, open his eyes and tell you when, where, sizes, dimensions, modifications -- you could see him open the plan book in his mind and then recite it out to you foot by foot. Absolutely amazing.

    Well, he retired. His replacement was a nice guy -- often seen looking overwhelmed, pushing a table cart of plan books around the building. Poor bastard.:help:>>:goingcrazy:>> :bananadead:

    Regarding the engineer discussion, my previous job was for an electrical engineer. It's entirely too much fun for me to tear their plans apart.

    Like I'm currently doing for a new building we're planning on starting soon. :D

    So far I've found a sump pump on the mechanical plan but there's no power shown on the electrical plan. And for some reason they want to mount some electrical disconnects to a guard rail when there's a perfectly good wall next to it.

    Not too long after I started here I was looking over some 85% plans and noticed that there weren't any wire guards called out for the lights, exit signs, switches or ceiling fans. In a basketball court. At some point, a ball is getting tossed at a fan or a light. On purpose. I noted it on the plans and when we received the 90% set, they still weren't on there. Noted it again. 95% - nothing. FINALLY on the signed construction drawings they were there. Not sure if someone was looking for a change order or what. :mad:

    I'm a mechanical engineer, about 9 years into this company now. I work very closely with my machinists when I design stuff and before I push it through to final drawings I have them review it, provide feedback and I make my edits accordingly. I was the college machinist for my graduating class so I helped machine 75% of the capstone projects that year so I know very well what it's like when someone tells you to polish a turd on paper.

    @tacobell007 is a machinist as well and sent this to me. This seems fitting:

    Holy shit :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I wish our electrical prints could be that way. "This wire is supposed to go to this relay, but not really because some inept technician changed it and never notified powers that be for a reprint"
