i had a student when i was active duty, i showed him an important/common panel, its location, whats under it, etc. At least 3 times prob more. The other students got its location after the first time. This guy still acted like i never showed him or talked about it ever...i was close to hurting him. Few months later after the class was completed someone on flightline working with him asks me if i ever showed him the panel...i told him the story and he say "oh that explains it all."

No way I could ever afford the stuff I wanted back then. Today just finding it hard enough. Still kickin’ myself for selling all my repair gear. With good electronics gettin’ scarce, might just look into it.

Years ago I tried to train a guy like that, I was showing him how to handle machine stops, basically get everything back to home and restart, just a procedure nothing more.

Nice fellow, polite, he paid attention, repeated things back to me perfectly assuring me he understood and was able to do all the steps hands on just fine.... And the next day couldn't seem to remember a thing. Again and again. :frusty:

I finally went to the boss, explained the situation and suggested he try someone else. He did, several actually, the guy finally asked for a demotion as he was going to get one anyway.

When I was a kid my "stereo" was a hodgepodge of junk I had scavenged from curbside cleanup.

The amplifier was from a Philco portable record player, the speakers from a junked console and screwed to plywood sitting on 5 gallon pails for an enclosure.
The turn table was a K-mart grade BSR made from 3 different broken ones. I also had a mono to stereo plug that plugged into the earphone jack of a LLoyds portable 8 track player. (The term boom box hadn't been invented yet.

My first real stereo was an solid state RCA console built in 1968, not the last word in fidelity but quite loud, I paid $35 for it at an estate sale. (they had value back then)

As a (younger) adult I compensated by buying all kinds of now old (mid-fi) stereo stuff and finally came to the realization that you can't use it all...

If I can fix it with Caig Deoxit -- I can fix it , beyond that -- well no :anonymous:.

I remember Convoy song:thumbsup: My grandfather liked it and might even have that on 8 track.
I have a collection of Jethro Tull hits on my thumb drive for the Tacoma. Several great songs, possibly one of my favorites is Skating Away on the thin ice of a new day.
The weld repair on the door strike is done and my friend wanted to start on the pins and bushings so he could see the finished product. I told him that I didn't want to keep him up that late as he usually in bed by 9. The door closes and latches tight but the door has to be lifted up on. No biggie for now, if I don't fix it before he leaves he can just go in n out the passenger side.
