    We had ceiling heat, it’s not used anymore, so that’s where the unused breakers come into play. I’m going to cut the wire and move it for the receptacles, the splices for power will be in a box.

    My youngest put his snow tires on yesterday and had a low tire today. Seems that it was plugged once upon a time and the plug failed. o_O

    On most digital meters you can use the range button to eliminate the annoyance.
    Move the decimal so there is only one or two digits to the right of it.
    It is a work around as you have to do it every time you turn the meter on but it works.

    Sometimes the meter was 3 feet away. No way could I see a analog.

    @koditten
    I’m doing the cutting and splicing outside the breaker box, just moving what the breaker powers.

    Glad to hear that. I've ran into so much sub standard wiring over the years, I'm glad to see someone wants to follow basic wiring rules.

    I thank you. The next owner of your house will thank you.

    I had I fun issue last year. Contractor ran a new 13kv feeder from our main substation to a new MCC. They failed to properly seal the conduit and failed to add the appropriate drainage to the splice box. Welp, during a heavy rain storm water water managed fill up into the splice box. Once the water hit bus to bus it was lights out for the entire plant. I still remember the BOOM!!!! as I was sitting in my office. Blew the door off the box. Thankfully no one was killed. I’ll find the pictures tomorrow.

    Soooooo, funny story!
    When I am machining my composite knife handles I use a shop vac for the first 5 minutes. Is creates a ton of static electricity, so I always keep one hand on my machine enclosure to keep myself grounded and avoid being shocked. Well this Sunday as I was standing there in my basketball shorts I for some reason didn’t keep my hand on the enclosure. I leaned forward just enough and then BAM . Got a static jolt right to my pecker head!!!!!

    Most of my previous place of employment seemed to be wired by drunk monkeys on a Saturday morning after an all night bender. If they didn't do it wrong they did it cheap - or both.

    I found some incredible things, only by luck the place never burned to the ground.

    I don't want to like that or laugh -- since you didn't get hurt I'll do both. :rofl::rofl:

    Is this why they say run a separate ground?

    yes. My dust collector and hose in my other shop are properly grounded so I don’t have this issue there. I just don’t have that CNc machine running yet.

    A bit off topic from pecker jolts, but did y'all hear the news about Jay Leno? Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery. I really enjoy his YouTube channel Leno's Garage.
