We woke up to a messy, icy and spotty few inches up here. Wind blown so parts were bare, others 5-6 inches. Chilly too with temps in the teens.

I think your storm today will be here Saturday.. Good excuse to light the fireplace and read a book.

My story about shithouse polio boy goes as follows. I had drawn the short straw years ago and got bumped to 3rd shift for a few weeks while a guy was on short term at a different facility.

The facility held the capsule Ive posted pics of for Artemis I. I would be working on ground systems equipment. I know how 3rd shift goes, done it before, most times they only manage to hold a chair down.
I show up and its shithouse polio boy as my subject matter expert, and he's a green green tech, he had been security the year before and had gotten hired in basically because he had access already apparently.

Our work order was simple, observe gauges, and relay data to engineering on a couple of massive generators that were providing a breathing air purge on the interior of the capsule itself. If the capsule didnt have that purge for longer than 24 hours, Nasa would de-certify it for flight.

I had heard about these generators, I knew they were Shuttle era junk. I also knew 2 levels of hearing PPE were required to approach them, plugs and covers. We saddle up to do our first hourly check and he's got no ears and I said where's your ears bub, he said oh I just leave them out there hanging on the side of the trailer next to the generators. Ok you're stupid, lets get this over with. These generators are screaming, 110 db all day long.

We collect our data which takes all of about 90 seconds and hes toggling settings on the digital readout willy effing nilly. Hey man, what are you doing? We do what the work order says, nothing more, nothing less. If our data is off-nominal engineering needs to put words to it. Couple more minutes go by and I'm like, I'm going back inside if we're good, he's like ok I'm hanging here, Bye then.

I report our data to engineering, and they say...you know I have a facility camera zoomed on that readout, you guys don't even have to go outside. I just need you to read it off that tv to me to verify.

I never went outside the remainder of the 2 weeks and he would go out there and stand for 30 minutes at a time. Touch that doofus.

It wasn't even remotely spicy. I think my fortune cookie was spicier.

As a somewhat general rule, people in this neck of the woods think ketchup is spicy. I'm not one of those people, but she obviously doesn't know that. Her warning just struck me as funny. :)

I laugh too. Especially at Mexican restaurant. I have yet to be "too spicy" any where

There's a Thai place in town that has a "how spicy do you want it?" sign when you're ordering - Mild, Medium, Hot and Thai Hot.

Next to the Thai Hot, it says that if you order that and can't eat it, it's not their fault. I stick with Medium there.

Spicy foods and variety in menus has disappeared, at least in these parts, since the pandemic.

Good morning all :hattip: Happy Friday!

What do you think, if he’s not back a year from now, is it still his place?
