Well no snow but it’s slick. Still navigable though…scratching my head as they decided to close schools today. Oh well plenty to do around here. Coffee first to get in the mood. Have a great day. Stay Well…Stay Safe

Got the chuck extension done for another machine shops lathe o_O

Yes, they are attaching a new chuck to the end and chucking it in the one on their lathe now. Not sure why they couldn't do it but thankful for the work

Little over 260 lbs. of chips in the dumpster off this one part.

So I need to drill out some bolts that the previous owner left me sheared inside the crank when I went to do the clutch job on our 350z. 5 out of 8 bolts were holding the flywheel on. 2 were sheared off in the crank and 1 had taken the threads with it. All of them were WAYYYY over the 75ft/lb spec. My impact couldn't even budge them, I had to get out my 3' breaker bar. I think they took 'torque to yield' too literally. The heads of the bolts gouged the flywheel they were so over torqued.

So back to needing to drill those sheared ones out. What drill bits do you recommend? I've tried milwaukee and dewalt brand bits and they either snap or dull out after less than a minute of use. Idk how soft these bolts will be, but I need to be able to get them out. Going to buy a mag drill to keep it all straight.

EDIT: To clarify, the previously used drill bits were on a different job, same car. Had to drill out stainless exhaust bolts.

You may have to buy carbide drill bits and be very careful with them.

Had to clarify the above, I haven't attempted any drill yet on these bolts. The previous issues with drill bits were drilling stainless bolts out on the exhaust.

I did the 25k service on my truck today, it’s a 2019 and I’m just getting to 25k. I’m not sure what that says about me lol. Tires rotated, fluids checked, engine air filter is clean, wipers are in good shape. You will be happy to know my driver's side floor mat was still safely contained by the twist lock mat holder thingy and my cabin air filter doesn’t need replacing yet.
