Well Wrenchmen, it is even a bit warm here in the garage today, not bad though.

I've been diligently working on the shredder  and the project is done!
(...not perfect mind you but done just the same)

The handles had to be raised and wider at the base to clear the larger engine. It is more comfortable for me to move now because I don't have to bend over, double win.:thumbsup:

Seeing as good ole' @Delta09 has volunteered to come work for me for a week I extended the belt guard for safety with an old piece of galvanized from a furnace.

Working a week unpaid no less, what a great guy !

The new engine discharges the exhaust toward the shredding drum, I thought that might no be the best idea so using a piece of leftover rocker panel from last years GMC project I made a deflector.

    20250730_180619.jpg

I used my high tech metal forming tools - aka: large vice & hammer.

With all the new bolts with Nylock nuts I used the machine is quite a bit quieter than before too -- and now it starts when you pull the rope! :)

Don't be too hard on yourself. Some of the best body guys I've seen work have nothing but a small hammer and a long weekend. And they turn out some spectacular prize winning art pieces.

This might not be art, but it keeps the chipper from self-igniting, which is artful in a way

At least in the brz, I thought the problem was the rear half shafts. Above 400hp, lots of guys were having issues with finding any brand that could stay together for more than a few 1/4 mile passes. The market might've caught up now though.

I keep looking at element tuning's services. Not all that different in price once you factor in sending them a motor to build.

:woot:, project is completed earlier than expected,
Perhaps I have nothing to do with it, however, I will take the credit for posting this post, that may have added some :bananadead:

    Some impressive looking stuff there!

Like mentioned on that website, they really dropped the ball on the oiling system. That has killed stock engines on both turbo and non-turbo.

Honestly I wouldn't want much more power for my personal use. Worse case is I have to build a new shortblock up. On Carfax it says my car had a replacement engine and new turbo. The turbo is definitely newer, but the engine looks like it has belonged in the car. However there's no oil seepage (like they all do) from the cam carriers and looks like it has been re-sealed at one point. Soooo many questions

Morning shop:hattip:, yesterday when I woke up I thought it was Friday. Which made for a crap Wednesday. That makes this Thursday :censored: to have to get through in order to actually make it to Friday. End of the month shenanigans at work make for some rough days lol.

New compressor is much quieter than the old unit. So far so good
