Well I agree but at such a slant I would think too much old oil will remain. That why I thought being on 4 ramps instead of 2 to level off would be good

i think you're over-complicating things. i absolutely wouldn't use 4 ramps. lifting just the front is just fine. there's really far more hazards with trying to dual-lift the rear and the front at the same time. years ago, i had one ramp 'mario-cart-banana-peel' out from under the vehicle on solid concrete, right as i was nearing the top. definite code-brown moment. so i just plain don't do ramps anymore. i don't even own a set after that. far too much risk when there's easier and safer ways about it.

if i need the vehicle higher than it sits on it's wheels, i lift with a jack off the center front jack point, or the rear pumpkin, then add jack stands under the front suspension a-arm mounts to maintain the height, then relax the jack, but leave it pumped up and ready to take the weight, should something spontaneously shift. if wheels are coming off, they immediately go under the vehicle frame just to the side of where i plan to work. far too many stories of someone banging on something under their vehicle, it falling from the movement, and crushing them to death. i'd much rather have a scratched/chipped/dented set of 4 wheels and live to tell about it.

you've got to run the truck to get it to the oil-change spot anyways, which means that oil will be pumped up to the top of the motor and circulated throughout. the itty bit of oil that will remain if the front of the truck is higher is a marginal amount compared to what's just been pumped up to the top of the block. to get all that out, even if you were to drop the entire oil pan, would take the majority of a day. before re-assembling. to do a 'real' complete/full oil change, would likely take closer to 2-3 days.

and in the end, it really doesn't matter, as long as 90% of the oil is changed out, so the new additive pack can work it's magic. even if it ends up taking you 30 minutes to drain the oil that way, you're likely still getting more out being slow and methodical than most quick-change places, and look at how many old ladies use those places and drive cars for far longer than most of us!

i'm waiting to see what the solar lights look like!

honestly, i don't fully understand what you routered, or how you managed to do it in place on all of it. but i assume finished-and-working pictures will make it all clear.

turns out if you throw even just $10 more at something, it ends up looking professional! who knew?!

the real trick is to do that with everything customer-facing. that way, they think they got something good. doesn't matter if it looks like this inside.

I ran the strip light along the top center of the guardrails since they are a little over an 1/8” thick, I routered out a channel to accommodate for their thickness and keep them centered. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow. Nothing is screwed down yet but so far I like it. Provides a subtle strip of light along the edges without blinding anyone.IMG_4402.jpg IMG_4400.jpg IMG_4397.jpg

    i see, i see!

i admit, i had far more fun imagining you routering a groove into the assembled railing boards in place.

The one I have doesn’t shrink to expected ratio, it stop shrinking before it hug close to the wire. I found that out after the tube got burnt due to the heat applied. I ended up bought some same size from electronics shop, problem solved!

    Morning folks :pccoffee:

As expected, the work week after vacation was indeed a dumpster fire :bananadead:

Also learned within a year, we're getting some new technology at work. Not going to get too specific for reasons, but not just a couple to try out, nooooo, going head first and our building is the guinea pig for a big roll-out. Not sure how it's going to play out, but I imagine a select few of us will have to probably get some training. :goingcrazy:

Those are not encouraging words: dumpster fire after your vacation. I’m heading home today after a long weekend at the beach, and I don’t need a crap week at work.

I’m guessing AI.. Sorry if so. I’m thinking my job will be non-existent once AI permeates everything :anonymous:

Good morning everyone, I hope you have pleasant Sunday :hattip:

Definitely not AI, but luckily for me everything still has to be maintained. AI is not gonna fix or fabracobble stuff, so I'm safe for now. However, it appears I got to get smarter. My idea of beating it with a hammer is going to have to be fine tuned :annoyed:

I keep a pair of side cutters handy…. Clip a Lille resistor off and suddenly… “defective”.
Although most truly are defective. Heck, I had a APC UPS defective right out the box the other day… right back for RMA.
Most of our stuff is good (occasional bad batches), it’s coworkers that accidentally screw shit up mostly. Heck, I even did it once… deleted an entire model profile. Backups, backups, backups… they’re only unnecessary if you don’t care about yer data.

i believe their normal heat shrink is only a 2:1 ratio stuff. i much prefer the 3:1 ratio.

where the heck are any electronics shops anymore?!? every one near me shut down years ago. i'm left with whatever auto parts and ace hardware happens to have on hand.
