Well the engineers who designed the 400E loader for the 4044M JD tractors made a brain fart. The fittings on the up/down rams are pointed towards the engine. And the brace for the kit is millimeters from the rams. As soon as some dinky operators decide to drop the bucket too far and then turn it torques the kit, and snaps the return (down) fitting right off.

So today.... since the rams are in Tennessee... and holy shit... they cost 1000 plus shipping just cuz they are John Deere green.

So I spent most of the day welding and subsequently chasing down leaks. And re-welding the broken fitting back on until the new one shows up.


It dont look pretty by any means. But its holding back some serious hydraulic pressure.

I then made new hoses and flipped the rams 180 degrees




That is what I did for most of the day.

 

Damn you make some solid stuff. How much would 2 custom macined license plates be? Been wanting some for car shows, I’m a VP for my schools driving club

Sometimes I think the engineers make things where the average person would rather take it to the dealer than try and fix it, good job fixing it

 

On top of working 40 hours a week in the machine shop my wife and I own a small convenience store. Got a man coming by today to change out the evaporator in our cooler. This one served us well, it’s been in since 1998.

 

That took all day. Me and a 72 year old man who knows his stuff

 

Shelf is done in the shell and picked up some rod holders to store our fishing poles out of the way.

 

If I had a lathe and knew how to use it, I'd have a massive amount of ATF form 1 suppressors.

If I had a mill, I know I'd have to make a few of these and end up in prison.

Removed the measurements, so I hope it's OK to post.

 

A lady brought two of these chairs by and ask for me to weld the broken wires. They don’t look safe or comfy.

 

Boss man finally got new parts for the saw, been wore out for a while. Now to find time to repair it.

 

Started building some fixtures for the powdercoater. Got 10 studs welded on, 990 more to go
