It's a good way to electrocute someone. Ima hvac guy :) I had a licensed electrician hook mine up. Genny can't be hot to my breaker box unless the main breaker is off and a lockout panel moved, then the breaker for the genny can be closed. It powers up the house, but not the lines feeding the house.

Jeesh, forgot to swing by and say good morning everyone.
I think what would be nice is to have the generator set up so it was all automatic. Where I'm at seems we lose power at least a couple times a year but it's never out for that long usually. So basically I'd most likely be putting off hooking up unless extremely cold or anticipating more than a few hours of being without power.

As well as to have power that is not sourced at a breaker.

Maybe one day if I decide to never move the Trailblazer again I might go to the transfer switch set up .

But it still went to visit MOM but the last few years

    Interesting that I
learned the back feeding trick from the maintenance Guys at the Co-Gen plant I was working at many years ago.

I could use extension cords to every thing I power I have more then I need.

The reality is, while not allowable by NEC, backfeeding isn't likely to cause any issues if:
    (1) You ensure that the main breaker is pulled to isolate the house from the street BEFORE energizing; and
    (2) you verify your current paths for all loads to ensure that you're not pulling say 30 amps for your furnace or heat-pump through a 14/2 run.

My coworker never works smarter, always harder. I told him I’d help him set this in the floor. He said nah :frusty:

It has a broken sensor in it, he’s fixed them before. He’s been staring at this one for 5+ hours and hasn’t gotten far. They need it back Monday morning

I used to work with that guy. Often times he would ask, hey how would you go about doing this (because clueless) I'd tell him how then he'd follow mostly but be sure to change something up just a little to make it his way.

Wow this guy seems to really get around seems there was always one in most of the crews I worked with .

Ask how to do something get a few answers all the same just worded different and still managed to break something

In typical government confusion, a silent alarm was accidentally pressed in Washington DC NASA HQ and it was sent down the chain as Nasa HQ without the DC specification. All is well here. Working entirely too hard today o_O.
