This will be my fun time Friday job. Put these two notches in the opposite end of this .030” wall stainless pipe.

 

How do you duplicate it?

 

We don't have a notching machine so I have to put the angle head on the old mill and be very careful so it doesn't grab and tear it all to pieces.

Do the notches have to be co-linear to the ones on the other end?

 

No sir, it doesn’t matter where they go

 

Well that makes things a lot easier. I always laugh when I receive a drawing with a tight tolerance on stuff like that. I always joke that I’d like to see the customer confirm the tolerance when they QC it upon delivery.
Now if it came off of a tube laser or CNC mill with a rotary axis then maybe.

 

My friend and his wife own a bison ranch, someone tried to take a photo with an bison of his (they jumped the fence and ran into the pasture) he just sent me this, he’s thinking about having some printed up and posted on the property.
