    That piece is bored out 3 thousandths of an inch over the tube diameter. I think 2 strip of 2" wide blue masking tape for no scratches and it should hold tight.
    A little concerned if his vise will open 4 inches, but have a idea around that.

    Tig welding sometimes is like using a pair of vice grips, you need 3 hands. I tried welding this first nut on but need to regrind the tungsten and haven’t. Couldn’t get it to stick without filler rod. Second one repositioned the part, used filler rod and it came right out.

    I'm rather curious why you tig welded that. We always reach for the mig welder when attaching nuts to things.

    I usually do, this was stainless and the large piece around it is rubber. Didn't want the sparks getting into that :thumbsup:

    My coworker already charred part of it with the butane torch :bananadead:

    I've welded stainless with the mig welder, it just rust where you weld it :anonymous:
