    If you’ve got any 1/2” - 1” ball bearings around the shop I can tell you how to test the anvil :thumbsup:

    Since at that time my work had me on the Road the Sperm Donor sold it He said I never used it and someone offered

    @six5crèéd

    Saw your adding to the post title of "CAD"
    Been using mockup with corrugated fiberboard for years.
    Works great for those "initial builds"
    Hell, I've used to make a set of fender liners.

    Without cardboard there would be a lot of wasted material in the machine shop industry! @Gregthespy told me about the cardboard abbreviation a while back, I've used it a lot just never heard it referenced as that :D

    I am curious just when did this start ? Did it start with the internet people taking pictures?

    I never had reason to ever try this I looked measured I drew what I needed drilled or did any machine work glued it together . I don`t recall ever seeing anyone use this of course it would have had to have been in person.

    Not that a piece or two did not get repurposed now and then.

    Drop (DO NOT THROW) the ball 10" onto the face of the anvil. Measure the amount of rebound (that number will then be a percentage) and that will give you a rough estimate of hardness. Hard anvils will be 75% and up

    I saw my dad use it for stuff when I was young. If I had some weird stuff to make with some angles I would use cardboard to test it first.
