That plate is hard as a rock. Even if I could get the holes opened up, our countersinks wouldn't stand a chance. No point in burning up $150 in tooling to try and make $50 :D

You're looking at a piece of plate quartz roughly 6" × 76" (leaned against a tube for suppport) that was annealed in our large oven last night. Apparently no one manufactures these in long lengths so we get jobs to weld them end on end to get required length. This is actually, maybe the only welding job my boss still does that I don't do yet.

Nothing really, i could manage it on my own for sure. It's very expensive material and the process to weld it requires moving it and flipping it over several times, all of which are good opportunities to scratch, chip, crack it etc... plus my boss still loves working in the shop and I'm pretty slammed with orders right now. Trying to figure out which customers are whining the loudest and getting that stuff done first.

Lol they also think they can order today and get it tomorrow. Not to mention the sales people for our company have relationships with the customers they communicate with regularly so they all call trying to get their customers work done first, apply immediate due dates, etc lol

I’ve always wondered what broke on the production line when I see this bolt imprint which is in a piece of OSB I have on a wall.
The funny part is that there’s a washer imprint on a different piece on another wall.

Reminds me of a long time back when we were running a lot of 1/2” hot rolled steel on our laser and we came across a sheet which had a crowbar smooshed into it! Oops!

One of my supervisors will have to deal with removing same studs on a old chevy he has. Lucky I just overheard him talking about having to replace them due to leaking because I had a set of the studs and springs I purchased new several years ago and didn't use.
I asked if he knew about tools to spread the manifolds and he said he had them.

I'm passing time today with cleaning up the shop some.
No respect for machine shop anymore; this isn't even a quarter of the stuff people have shoved in around me.20210205_102803.jpg

I actually thought about that, but didn’t have a crayon. I need to get some of the broken ones from the kids and take them to work.

We didn't cook the motor, just the belts shredded. They've been on there for years, so who knows how many hours they had on them. If that motor let go, it would be a multi hour job to replace.

Edit: Were you referring to the small motor from the beginning of the week? Or the debarker smoke show from last night? We have so many issues each week I can't hardly keep track.

I was referring to the motor where the rotor and stater became good friends

Looking on the bright side, days usually fly by when your putting out fires all over the place.
Not fires actually, but you know what I mean, one omg emergency to the next.
