Anyone have any knowledge of blasting / explosives?

Out metal detecting this morning in an area which has had logging and gold mining (placer mining) in its history and found this. It's about 13" long, and 3/16 square, and marked "Fuse-Well No. 11". I assume it relates to blasting, but I have no idea, and Mr. Google is not being very helpful today. Doesn't actually matter, just curious. Thought it was a length of key stock when I first pulled it up.

No, it's a solid, iron bar. I was thinking some sort of tamping rod?

Looks good Shane. I did some 4th axis work today as well. Just did the two holes that you see as well as two more on the back and bottom of part. Did about 200 between what the guys ran on Friday and I ran today.

Talking to my Dad, he suggested some sort of fusible link, as in an electrical fuse, maybe?

The pump looks quite a bit older than the engine. Home built job, wonder if it has a pop off valve?

@tirediron That appears to be made of cast iron; two things come to my mind. A.) filler material for repairing cast iron equipment or shear pin stock to protect rotating gears, pulleys. Just guessing. etc

Flood coolant is awesome, we have a mist system because we don’t have an enclosure. Still makes a mess.

Late welding job this evening. Not sure why I didn’t think of doing this sooner. The quick attach on my loader, when trying to switch between the bucket, forks, or bale spear the cylinders don’t move together. The right one always goes out first and it’s super aggravating. Not anymore :D
