My boss man showed me a job last week that was a tough one, had a tab machined on one side with radius's, etc. The tab was .070" thick. There was no way to hold it, he said I'm gonna pass. I said good.

He just came back out and the customer redesigned it with a two piece deal and the tab to be held on with two 00-90 tapped holes  I said are you crazy? That makes it worse.

He said what about two 1/32nd dowel pins? I said how you gonna measure the press and how you gonna press them in without destroying it?

So much for "not working" today...

I had to get four cinder blocks, a construction camera that's bolted onto a 3' chunk of 2x12 and a 50' long power cable with weatherproof enclosure down from up here:

    20201204_112928.jpg

    Then down here:

    20201204_113104.jpg

    No elevator, of course.

Boss man said that "throwing them off of the roof isn't an option". Yeah, because you weren't doing it!

I might as well start the ibuprofen regiment now because there's no way I'm not going to feel this later.

Found the picture the boss sent me as a friendly reminder. Shows a bit more scale.

About 10 years ago someone kept leaving beer bottles on our dock over the weekends. I made this camera out of some things we had and put it up. The beer bottles stopped.

About 5 years ago on a Monday morning the police came by and told me boss they needed camera footage from us. He laughed.

    I'll be right behind you!

At my first job we had Zee Medical PainAid in the first aid kit. That stuff has acetaminophen, aspirin, caffeine and salicylamide all in one tablet. It was AMAZING.

One of our customers got a shipment in from Germany delivered here in a large crate. They came and got the stuff out of it and put the crate in our dumpster. They’ve emptied the dumpster twice and this was hung in it. Guess who got to dig it out and cut it up

Speaking form experience, that's good pallet wall material.

Except that it looks like pine. Yellow pine and the stain I picked out did NOT go together! It's a little ridiculous when you're picky with your pallet wood. It had to be oak, maple, hickory, basically any hard wood.

    Much appreciated!

Pallet walls are supposed to be easy but leave it to me to make it difficult. I had to rip each row down so instead of warped boards they were more uniform which in the end did make it easier to keep each row straight.

And I didn't want any of the butt joints to line up vertically, which took some doing. :anonymous:

    Thank you!

After I was done, my wife asked me if I wanted to do the wall behind the toilet in the powder room. I probably could have squeaked them in there but made an excuse that the toilet was too close to the wall and wouldn't fit.
