I also thought if when loading the tube into the can, if that piston/plunger could get pinched or trapped down there at the bottom when everything was tightened back up. Loosening both end perhaps would free it up. Just a thought.

Just a quick question here. Did you make sure you took off the metal pull tab end?

After watching the video @That one old guy shared im almost certain its improper use or damaged cartridge I have going on. One tube was indeed dented on the pull tab cap end.

Chains are an absolute must as driveway rises 40' over the 700' length. They go on in October and don't come off until May
Parent used the truck to move to the property in 1971 and its been used and abused every winter since
Last interesting tidbit is that it has a foot pedal activated starter... There is a pedal that come through the floor next to the gas pedal that when pressed extends the bendix and completes the circuit to energize the starter. Made it real interesting to start if it was on an incline.....

My dads' '50 studebaker champion (his very firs car) had a tab on the clutch pedal for the same purpose. It also had a'hill holder' clutch pedal. Step on the brake pedal then push in the clutch. Then you could move your brake foot to the gas pedal, pressing on the gas and engaging the clutch would release the brake (good for getting the car moving on a hill). My mother loved it.
Funny thing; I was looking at a '84 Subaru, the salesman got really excited when he told me about that feature. His face sagged when I told him that was old school, my Dads' '50 Studebaker had it. There were probably others that did too.

That’s sweet. I’d rather see one in its work clothes than restored, thanks for sharing

.5 first work day of 2021...what surprises are in store today....? Hope I get time to finish ring one to ring in the new year. Later this week I have to bore and broach a coupling and would like to use that lathe. Should be perfect concentricity if I don't have to remove it.

no missed decimal point. We have been making these the same way for the 10 years I’ve been here. Not holding onto much so sometimes they just get pulled out. Made some noise and broke the end mill.

How do you drill those sets of 3 holes without the drill walking off into one of the holes?
