Think I’m on my third ‘87. I use a lot of thermal imaging stuff lately. Wouldn’t consider changin’ my electrical eyes & ears brand. :)

    There's other brands?

I've got three Flukes now; my 77 which I've had for years, the 233, which I didn't need, but couldn't pass up (and the removable display feature is really handy) and a 336 clamp meter... Do I actually need all that? No, but I'm a firm believer in "Buy good, buy once" (or as often as a good deal on Craig's List comes up).

I don't know for sure now...
4 jaw chuck, lots of tooling, quick change post, steady rest, live center, the ways look in decent shape. The last lathe I went and looked at the ways had a 1/8" gouge worn in from the chuck to a foot back.

Wintertime really kicks ‘em hard up here. Sure, I bring ‘em back in the house at night but in the field they take a beatin’

I really like my UEi and FieldPiece meters. I still have my original Fluke, but when I migrated to a clamp on meter in the late 90's I switched when I got tired of having to plug in my Fluke clamp.

I did score a free Fluke once when I found it hanging on a furnace though. So I actually have 2 in my Tool Chest.

I will fully concede that if I absolutely had to chuck a meter at a brick wall as hard as I could, then use to test something, I'd still choose the Fluke though lol.

I guess if it was in really good shape, perhaps, but it looks well worn in the photos. If you're serious, make sure you take a chunk of BMS and a dial indicator with you; doesn't matter how much you pay for it if it doesn't turn true.

Hmmm... not familiar with that name. I've seen a couple of the Sears ones at our club's annual tool & equipment swap meet over the years, and they have been Southbends; I assumed that M-W was the same, but maybe not?

    Ok, caught up.

https://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/threads/powr-kraft-logan-lathe-info.11168/ Some info there about the lathe.

    Do it.

They make new wives every day, same can't be said about a good old lathe.

Actually that'd just make her more mad. She says flowers that die are just a waste of money. I'll just have to buy her new wheels for her new 2021 Corolla we're getting her next week

Slap a TRD logo on the lathe, tell her it came with the car.
