Alright, I was gonna wait till they were done but I'm too excited so here goes..

First post on fabricating my bed stiffeners, with prices and thoughts.

I'm using 3/16" strap steel 2"wide. Would have used angle iron for the upright section but none was available when I bought supplies so, a little more welding no problem. The base is 11" and the uprights are cut at 11 3/4" . So far I have spent 35$20210528_102909.jpg 20210528_144910.jpg 20210528_153531.jpgand I had to set it in to get a feel for the fit. I'll be drilling it and adding holes for tie downs. Might use the d ring on the bottom of the gusset.

I did all right I was in the country mostly Dairy Farms run 40 to 60 cattle long before the big mega dairy farms.

I also had all the milk the family could drink.

Learning to stack hay wagons in rolling hills was a Art I was proud of I avoided the Horse Farms I learned that lesson early on those girls just wanted a slave to take care of the grunt work of owning a horse with the illusion of getting some that was always next time.

shorter length. Right at 120” right now. Will be moved 18” towards the carpet and only 60” long. Will drop down to cabinets and countertops to finish the 120” out. Should look like this when done.

I don't like to fish wires. I don't think I would have replaced the thermostat if I had to fish wires.

Also changed the faucet. The handle escutcheons were loose and at some point last week, the cold escutcheon came off.

So, bought a brushed brass faucet to go with the brushed brass hardware on the drawers and doors.

    A thing or two...
Only wire I've ever run in a house is ethernet cable in my parents' house back in high school.

My main source of worry is not knowing how the old wire is run. I assume it goes in the attic and over to the furnace, but I haven't been in the attic to look yet. As long as the wire is accessible, it shouldn't be a problem to use the old wire as a pull string.

I'm also gone weeks at a time due to work, so not a lot of free time when I'm home. I've thought about calling the HVAC company I've used before to see what they'd charge. The AC drain on my shop needs fixed too, so I could get that done at the same time.

Thanks! It was a super easy install. The faucet nut didn't require a wrench. It was made for hand tightening.
Yeah, having a wire to use as a snake helps a bunch.

when I settle in to this retirement thing I really wanted to do a couple of things.
One,,, was to build a rat rod.
Two,,, was to recondition a make and break engine and put it on a lawn tractor type chassis.
I don’t think one will happen cause money, time, space, won’t be on my side.
So I know a few people that have connections so maybe the second one might be doable.

Or if I found a nice lawn tractor puller, mmmmmm.
But,,,,then I might have to associate with people..
    Decisions, Decisions lol
