Spinning machines just have that ominous "I'll rip your limbs off and keep going" vibe, which should perhaps bother me more considering how many hours I spend at a lathe. Low rpm though.

"Our sop" as in only one? We have one for every program that we test.

The program that I'm flying out to support is SOP, test plan, and 5 datasheets.

Are you all hard headed and stubborn like me? I had help coming tomorrow to install a hitch on my wife’s new Forester, but after getting pieces removed and prepped for tomorrow I went ahead and figured out the easiest way to go ahead and install it. Maybe I need to find some new friends who live close by who know how to work on stuff.

I got my shirt hung on a rotating bar on a manual lathe once, it started pulling me down, luckily slowly and I had sense enough to reverse it. Got to be careful!!!

Somebody at our mexico plant lost the whole hand. Leave it to him to single-handedly ruin our OSHA Record. :rimshot:

I like having people around in case I need to unfuck my situation. I've been bailed out a few times working on the truck when I get in over my head. ECGS bearing being the foremost in my memory.

At my old job the workers abused electric polishers (and I repaired them...). Working on a tool I notice hair, lots of hair wrapped around the spindle.
I approached a (good) guy with hair 1/2 way to his elbow. Just like on the news, "No comment" was all he said and went back to polishing. The tool operated at about 3200 rpm and there was a wad of hair. That one must have hurt.

yeah it could mess you up in a hurry and not even slow down. Been fortunate to not have anything major. Lots of near misses and smallish cuts. Lots of rags and electrical tape bandaids. Have heard lots of things from my boss that’s been around the business for about 45 years. Always have to pay close attention.

I hate asking anyone for help. Would rather it take longer and do it myself most of the time. I will drop what I’m doing to help anyone else tho. Should probably ask for help before I hurt myself trying something stupid.

Back when I was in school the kids in sports had to dress up on Friday.
So this big dumb fellow (not me btw) is knurling a part on the 1960's South Bend lathe and his tie gets between the part and the rollers. The lathe is in the super slow range and commences to winch him in -- he commences to scream -- up 3 octaves scream.
Flailing around he managed to hit the stop button in time.
