With so many UCA and upper ball joint options available, and so much marketing haze, I come to you all for some advice. I'm setting up an '09 Tacoma for primarily off-road, but that will also do the trip there and back safely, and am seeking a UCA and upper ball joint combo with the following criteria:

    1. Durable for off-road use
    2. Safe and solid for on-road use
    3. UBJ is common and available, and likely to remain in production
    4. UCA accepts commonly available parts (no proprietary parts, if I can avoid it)
    5. High reliability and quality

Basically, I'm looking for a UCA+UBJ combo that allows for long-term use, then replacements are reliably available, or at least other parts can be substituted without much ado.

I realize that may be a tall list of requests, but looking to weed through some of the marketing haze to find a brand / combo that is reliable and long-term repairable. Any experiences would be great, and/or links to other threads - my search didn't pin-point quite what I'm looking for here.

Imo. I’d go with JBA. The UBJ and bushings are readily available.

I'd suggest looking at SPC arms since their ball joints are easily replaceable. For the lowers, NAPA gold (manufactured by Mevotech part of their TTX line) are great. While you are working the lowers, go ahead and throw in a set of Whiteline bushings and you should be set. Thats what I did for my lowers and they are holding up great.

The recommendations are greatly appreciated. Out of curiosity, why Whiteline over something like Energy Suspension? It looks like the Whitelines are more like stock bushings, which is alluring.

Energy suspension bushing installation is terrible- as noted above, whiteline is easier
