Bought the truck with bigger than stock wheels and no vibes but when I put Michelin defenders on it immediately started vibrating in pedals, floor board, and steering wheel. It also makes a sort of humming noise when decelerating. I've done the 4 wheel drive test and it goes away 90%. I've gotten a few quotes but just can't wrap my head around $500+ for the job. I don't feel comfortable doing it myself and want to pay someone just hopefully a little less since I've seen others say they paid $300 or so. Any shops in Utah that can get this done without breaking the bank?

U can honestly do yourself, not very difficult
Bearing and tools are around $80.

Honestly I was afraid of this myself but if you don’t need to pull the whole CV it’s maybe a 3 bolt job…

I had to replace a bad axle and changed the diff fluid and did the bushing while I was in there. Whole job took about an hour, so if you skip all that extra stuff you’re removing the 2 lower bolts from the control arm, pop the inner CV out and swing it aside. Then use the bearing puller to get the needle bearing out and place the bushing.

I once saw him install 3 ECGS bushings in front of a bar with a pencil. A fucking pencil…

This is so completely false. I did my ECGS bushing install without completely removing the CV. Just as @DailyTacoMD said. There are tons of YT videos. My axle nut was seized and once I found the procedure to do it without removing the CV completely I was thrilled because it was much, much less complicated.

Post this up in the regional forum so that you’re more likely to get responses from people in Utah.

Sorry I know what I'm doing and did it the right way! Watch the brake lines and speed sensor if half assing the job.

First of all, you essentially said it couldn’t be done that way which isn’t true. Now you’ve admitted that it is indeed possible.

Second, neither method is any more “right” than the other. Leaving the CV axle attached to the wheel isn’t half assed, it’s quite a bit more efficient as long as it’s supported while disconnected from the diff. I would love to hear you explain why complete disassembly of the suspension is a) necessary and/or b) “right”. There are some pros and cons, but one big pro to not completely removing the CV axle is it’s much easier to reinstall if you are doing the work alone. The con is that you have a little bit less space to work on the diff, but it’s not very noticeable.

I really can’t stand when people confidently spread incorrect information and then double down on it simply because their ego won’t let them do anything else.

Trav's automotive in midvale UT. He looked at if for free to make sure that's what the problem was. They work on a lot of Tacoma's he said and have done ECGS bushing a number of times.
