I have a short bed and zero complaints. Unlike a lot of people in here I like the SB and LB, I'm not going to hate on someone's decision because it's different from mine.

Notable things that have been in the bed of my truck: 3 dirtbikes in the bed (at the same time), 5 downhill bikes (at the same time), two couches (at the same time), a king bed with box springs, a fridge...
The short bed is very useful if you know how to strap things in being that when used for hauling chances are your tailgate will be down.

The only reason I'd switch to a long bed is for camping. Been camping in my short bed, and sleeping diagonal isn't awful but it would be nice to have the extra length. This is the one negative I have about my SB truck, otherwise completely happy with my choice.

I wanted a long bed, but I also wanted a manual transmission. In the end, the manual transmission was more important to me. (My choice may have been influenced by all of the bitching about the auto on this site.:goingcrazy:)

I'm happy with my choice, since I have trailers.
But.... if a long bed was available with a manual transmission, that's probably what I'd be driving now.

From a long bed guy, short bed is better. I'm 5'11" and got the LB in part to camp with the tailgate up...guess what? My body doesn't actually require me to lie perfectly flat. Weird, right?

The LB is a pain to park. Standard parking spots are about 19' so with a DCLB, I'm eating the entire space. Someone in the adjacent spot a little over the line? Find another spot. Garage parking? Thank God for the backup camera.

I still love my Taco, but won't ever get another LB.

A lot of you forget about the Access Cab. Long bed with the shorter wheel base.

LONG BED SUPERIOR, short bed INFERIOR.

Well... It all comes down to "what you do with it".. I personally like the Long Box cuz I gotta go 25Kms to the beer store and that takes gas.

If I gotta take 2 trips... it takes me twice as much gas as does 1 trip....!

So I gets the longest box I could find.... Bed extender don't work in this scenario..!! It's a waste of $ and space when not being used..!! If only I could find a nice light Aluminum Trailer for free...!!

Here is a pic of my 2006 Taco LB with a 3 month load of empties... I run these to the beer store 4 times a year in a LB...
    112_1218.jpg

If I had a SB, I'd have to make about 9 trips cuz it'd be 12 boxes less on each trip.... That costs money....and I'm a senior on a fixed income.... The more I spend on gas....the less I have for beer and maybe food..!

Each to their own, I guess....!:canada:

I think Toyota should release a 5'-5" bed and then we can end all these threads.

    I have a small box.
Sometimes I look at my box and I wish I had a longer box.
