Brand new 2013 V6 DBL Cab. 300 total miles. When I turn off the engine I get a half second long grind from under the hood. I popped the hood and listened closer while my wife killed the engine and it sounded more like a vacuum exhale. Am I in the green or should I head straight to the dealer?

This is mine...its normal. Its a new smog pump for emissions. You can also hear it after you start the truck after its been sitting over night, but you really gotta listen for it over the engine. I just tell friends its a turbo :burnrubber:

They all do it, it's a pump cycling off

So it sounds like a very distinct grinding from the cab? I honestly thought it was metal on metal.

That video shows the proper sound. If it sounds more like metal grinding than that, you should have your smog pump looked at.

When I am in my cab it sounds like metal to metal grinding. But, when I go to the hood and listen, it just sounds like air, almost like a turbo....

Purchased my truck in March as well. Hear it everytime I shut the engine off.

We need a sticky post on this. It seems like this question gets asked once a week with new 13 owners.

Glad I searched for "grinding sound on engine shut off" before making a thread. :D
