    Please explain the reason for not turning the engine off before it reaches operating temperature.

    I think it’s related to possible cylinder wash.

    cylinder wash. if you never let it get to operating temp and shut it off frequently, unburned gas will wash the layer of oil off the sides of the cylinder walls and next time you start it, there will be metal on metal contact. no bueno.

    you can tell who does this often cause when they come in for an oil change, the oil literally smells like gasoline.

    im surprised anyone on here doesn't know this....as car people.

    this is also why cars with the goofy start/stop technology won't shut the engine off at a red light if the engine hasn't come up to temp yet.

    it's a protective measure to prevent unnecessary engine wear

    Just let your engine get to operating temps, use a trickle charger once in a while and you will be fine.

    To me, a short trip is when an engine does not get to operating temps.
