I'm sure the long bed is fine on the light trails. I wish mine had an e locker though. Has anyone put a locker in a dclb? Any thoughts?

I like to get stuck in 2wd to scare the shit out of passengers and then engage 4wd to easily get out.

There is no perfect wheelbase for every situation. I've seen places where a 4 door Wrangler was too big and a 2 door would fit. Other places where a long wheelbase full size truck had an advantage over shorter rigs. If I'm buying a Tacoma make mine no longer than a DCSB or an Access Cab. Actually a Regular cab would be the best for off road use. If I were interested in a DCLB I'd just buy a 1/2 ton crew cab. The overall length is within a couple of inches of being the same.

My truck is a LB but the only reason is that I use it for work as well as play, and need as much bed as I can get. If my main priority was camping/fishing/wheeling I’d definitely go SB.

I live in the city, so for my purposes the width of the truck is almost more important than the length. The DCLB is a pain to parallel park, but a full size truck would be even worse in most situations I encounter. The DCLB is the perfect compromise for me between the need for a bigger truck and the need to be able to get into tighter spaces.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Other than tight spots, width wise, the Raptor, and the power wagon both scraped less than the Trd Pro when TFL took them to Moab.
Tacoma’s look small next to a full size even with a 6 foot bed.
The 1st Gen guys probably figure the 2nd and 3rd Gen 5 foot box, double cabs are trail pigs.

I plan to use mine for backroad camping inside the canopy (only had it since November, so I haven't been able to yet), and I wouldn't want anything other than a long box for that. The Access Cab is also nice for additional cargo space without getting too long.
