Short week trip ideas East Coast

Hello friends,

I write this with beer in hand and many ideas swindling in the mind. Here’s my situation.

Looking for: road trip on the east coast with at least one night in a cool town We’re located in SW VA for reference.

Abilities: Some soft roading is fine (stock sr 4x4 with 31s) camping is intended along the way (avid backpackers with plenty of gear to make ourselves comfortable for primitive camping). Have been looking at the KAT (Kentucky Adventure Tour) as a ‘fun way’ to get to Lexington.

Timing: traveling late May, early June.

Goal: Awesome road trip! Some scenic routes would be sweet, however we prefer seclusion and more primitive camping. <- you couldn’t pay me to stay at a KOA.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
