Shortbed to Longbed conversion?

I have a DCSB and could really use an extra foot or two of bed.
Anyone ever done a conversion? Is it possible?

I would imagine toyota didn't make different frames, so it is as easy as popping one off and bolting the other down? I chosemy truck based on price, not options so I got what was available at my price range.

I am not sure how serious I am...maybe more curious than serious?

 

x2. Toyota used the same frame for the access cab and the double cab short bed to save some money. I would imagine a long bed conversion would be cost prohibitive by the time you get a new drive shaft, frame, bed, extend all wiring, brake lines, fuel line, etc. You're better off trading if you really need a long bed.

stock hight they are, once you put a 3” or 6” lift they look good.they just look to low for how long they are IMHO.

agreed. I thought the sheetmetal and composite bed was the major difference. thought the wheelbase was the same....crap, I wonder how much better the longer wheelbase is for towing. Oh well, stuck with what i got for now.

 

I just came from a longbed and towed the same things I usually do and honestly I could not tell a difference between the two abosolutly nothing, maybe spiritually there's a difference but not physically ...
