:annoyed:I’ve got a 96 Taco and trying to find the short that’s causing my reverse lights and dash board gauges not work. Are there any common places that they short out? Already replaced fuse, and it all works, till I put it in reverse, then it pops and all goes out. It’s a manual

Usually a trailer connector is a good place to check, although if you just have a 4 pin one, thats probably not it.

I had the exact same problem back in 2015. It's caused by a faulty reverse light switch on the transmission. It kept popping the fuse to the gauge cluster and A/C. Dealership charged me $38 for the part and $300 for labor/troubleshooting. Save some money and just fix it yourself.

As was said the switch can short out with age.

Also look for rubbed wires coming from the switch harness.

There can also be a short in the area of the tail lights or in the light harness .

Are we talking Manual or Automatic??

Makes a difference in the switch
