    Maybe, maybe not.

If the front wall of the garage backs up to a living space, it has a fire rating.
If it's only framed drywall, penetrating that drywall will blow code.
Depending on the age of the building, there's a good chance that it's stucco, maybe with a drywall surface.

Just something to keep in mind for when it's time to move... the fire rating will have to be restored before an inspector sees it.

To meet fire code in 95% of cases you need a total of 1.5" of drywall. You can legally glue two .5 inch sheets to the interior drywall and meet code, as long as that barrier is continuous over the wood framing. If he has 2x6 like I suspect, he still clears.

Unless the building was remodeled to have the garages added on, I highly doubt there is stucco in the garage, it would be a complete waste of mo ey for the builder. The only major drawback is removing your insulation from under your header, and even then, you can drape it down in the cavity, leave it exposed, and compress it with the bumper when parked, and only lose your insulation value when the truck is in the garage.

Is it really practical to have a garage that is within an inch of the length of your truck? I mean if you're pulling in there all the time to park it would get frustrating to have to come within part of an inch of the front wall all the time.

Cheapest solution in my eyes is to leave the overhead door open, thus extending your 5 foot drive to 12+ feet!

If it's a two car garage, get up to about 60 k, then just as you get the nose at the entrance, crank the wheel as fast as possible to the closest wall and jam on the brake. If executed properly you should slide neatly into the garage sideways.

You're on your own getting out, though.

Most likely not an option with the HOA

We don't get picky about enforcement, but our rules state that the door is to be open only for putting the vehicle into or out of the garage, and when performing work on it.
We don't fuck with people on that in general, but they do get a letter if they are leaving the door open all night.

Thats the length of my 2010 DCLB, your should be the same.
You're gonna have to remove your rear bumper and move your hitch in by redrilling the mounting holes. (Havent done this or insected how its mounted but logical guess based on others I have seen.
That might get you enough clearance.
If it does not, proceed with the drywall scenario or vice versa.

We just bought a home, and my wife had to walk away from two houses she loved because the truck didnt fit in the garage. Funny thing was we saw houses and forst thing i did was measure the garage. Its a deal breaker when you do your own work.
