Unless you have a disability and the appropriate permit, (Aside from being stupid as shit), what you were doing is illegal in KY.

Well you assumed my attitude and were completely wrong. It’s okay though. People make mistakes, right? Lol. You also are clearly an unhappy person, so I hope you get through whatever you’re dealing with. You’re fit throwing and resorting to name calling show that you’re unstable. Get well soon buddy.

Wow you CAN do research! Here you go again though with a straw man argument. You just assumed I was hunting from the truck. I didn’t get a chance to step out before it went off. In case you didn’t know, it’s completely legal to step out of the vehicle and fire. Good try, Yankee Doodle.

OK, let's say you weren't brushing it off as just a 22, and you were definitely going to step out of your truck to take your shot. The rest of the point still stands. This was negligence, not an accident, not issues with safety protocols, and you are way too cavalier about the shit considering you could have caused harm to someone else or "accidentally" painted your headliner.

Shit happens, I get that, but when the shit that happened was easily avoidable, take a step back and re-evaluate everything that led to the incident. Chalking it up as "Accidents happen" is letting yourself off the hook way to easily. You were driving around with an unsafe firearm in the back of your truck in condition 1, what if you had been driving near someone else and hit a bump or swerved and the trigger got caught on something and you put a round through someone else's vehicle?

If you can't accept that then I stand by post 238

People have wrecks also, does that mean they should stop driving?? Accidents happen, I'm sure this will be on the OP's mind for a very long time....

But agreed, you might want to retire the .22, or at least have it repaired...

If they got into a wreck caused by their own negligence, (knowingly driving with things like Bald tires, pads/rotors that are totally shot, none of their brake/tail/signal lights work, driving with death wobble or some other steering/suspension problem that is readily apparent), then yes they should sell their vehicle and get a bus pass or a bicycle.

It's a little different. If you're following all the rules in a car you can still get into an accident by others negligence. If you follow all the rules of handling a firearm you won't accidentally discharge.

See how much easier it is to say what you want and make your point without name calling and displaying insecurities? I still disagree with you, but that’s okay. You don’t have to have everyone agree with you.

I made my point fine the first time I replied. You wanted to hide behind the "ItS aN aCciDeNt" BS, like you aren't the root cause of the hole in your truck. Be accountable for your actions or lack there of. The gun did everything it was designed to do, you ignored every safety rule and did everything wrong that you could which led to it. That's not an accident, that is a totally expected outcome of every condition existing leading up to the incident combined, all of which were made by your willful negligence.

The name calling, while inappropriate/unprofessional, is more than deserved if you don't want to accept responsibility for your own fuck up.

I don't care if you agree or not, I just hope you never do something so stupid again and damage yourself or somebody else. I also hope that anyone else reading this thread can learn from your carelessness and decide to take safety and responsibility more serious.

All the bickering honestly just makes me wanna go cut off all my trigger guards and ride them in condition 1 in the backseat to see how long it takes for any of the guns to fire themselves:anonymous:

OP very clearly accepted responsibility, was dealt the consequences, and currently fixing them. Not to mention a damn good sense of humor about it all. He's very clearly a pretty level-headed individual; I'll take 20 OP's owning guns before 1 'holier than thou' toting a hand-cannon anywhere near me. Sure, its Friday, you can sneak a few "fuck you's" and "dumbass" in there, but lets keep it civil and not get the thread locked. OP just wants to fix his truck.

And maybe don't push the issue with a guy thats willing to shoot a hole through his roof; imagine what he could do to youo_O

But to be fair OP, if Chris crossed applesauce, imagine what he'd do to you:boink:

My non-negotiable rule is after a hunt or trip to the range, all guns in my vehicle are double verified unloaded and breeches opened. It only takes a few seconds. The only exception is my sidearm which stays on my hip and stays loaded and always has a round chambered. I prefer sidearms with a manual safety just because that is what I was brought up shooting. It is just a bit more comforting to me to verify that little switch is in the do not kill position when holstered.

Well, no. Here we go again. That’s why I responded. You didn’t make your point the first time. You misquoted me and misrepresented my intentions. Then you got upset and responded with your emotions flying around. Emotions have no place in an educated discussion.

now, since you’re clearly the manager of your local OSHA office, I’m sure you wear your seatbelt everywhere and stop completely at all stop signs. Right?

Deer Lord why does anybody care as long as its not them it happened to? Dude fucked up, dude admitted he fucked up, I bet he learned a valuable lesson in the process. The rest of it should be good hearted joking.
As far as how to carry? Who gives a shit. Locked and cocked, a knife, nothing at all....if its not yourself thats doing (or not doing) the caring....why do you care? I know I dont.

Sorry about your incident OP, maybe a little more careful in the future. Or not....its your life.
