Yeah but ford interior fit and finish is garbage even if its more comfortable.

I also find the Toyota high floor comfortable. Just used to it I guess. But the inside of my 2nd gen took some time getting used. It's more cramped and claustrophobic than the 1991 that preceded it. Having a less raked windshield and less bulky plastic shit everywhere would help a lot. Some of it is of course necessary, like the huge pillars. Putting an old Toyota Truck on its lid would be pretty much guaranteed to pancake you.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
While I do agree that first and foremost a truck needs to functional. Comfort is still a big deal. Being in the local 4x4 Search and Rescue, I've been on missions where I left my house at 6 in the morning and got home at 2 in the morning with my butt in the seat driving for 98% of the time. Fortunately for me, I find the Tacoma fairly comfortable. Maybe I settle for less, maybe I don't know what I'm missing either way I'm good with it.

Seat comfort is critical, how else can you justify poor reliability other than being comfortable while waiting for the tow truck.

This. Get over 50 and comfort matters. Why not? I am not working the long hours in the truck that you are -- and, of course, thank goodness that you are! But nothing wrong with comfort. I will also say this -- my Tacoma is much more comfortable than my BMW. Those seats are rock hard and you feel every bump. I'd take my Tacoma for comfort over the BMW any day of the week. Gas mileage, not so much. :)
