Hell, that's a brand new car. I remember ruining a transmission on an older prelude going over the grapevine. Had to drive it the rest of the way home in 2nd gear

Then it has about 30k miles left on it. I have owned a few Hondas and the transmission is the weak point.

 

Everyone of them shit the bed around 120k miles, no matter how you treated them. I will say they do not like being dropped from 5th gear to 2nd. You can turn on a dime though(90 degrees)
I drove the shit out them, abused them like red headed stepchild.

 

That’s awhile ….gonna need some fresh gas…parts may be rough to find for it…Hondas about discontinued all there old stuff..

Agree the biggest flaw in the 3rd gen is the transmission shifting. Its like the new guy at toyota made the shift mapping. Everyone on Tacomaworld will tell you that their transmission shifts perfectly fine (lies). Then we have to spend time and $$$ on a tune or a pedal commander.

 

It's subjective. While many people are bothered and annoyed with the shifting, not everyone is.

 

Your mistake was buying an automatic

The programming for my MT Tacoma is spot on. It always seems to shift gears exactly when I want it to.
