So I might have a chance at buying a one owner mostly garaged 05 Tacoma. As far as I can tell it’s been extremely well taken care of. Lived it’s life in AZ and garaged a lot.

it has a bunch of long travel suspension work done to it and really is just overall in great shape.

only thing is it has 200k on the clock. Should I be scared?

I would be more afraid of the price tag than the mileage

Generally I would say 200k a non-issue on a taco, however if it's a V6, they had well documented head gasket failures on '05s that all happen right around that mileage.

So it depends on the price, and if the head-gaskets have been done/you're prepared to do them.

Also would be curious as to how well the suspension has been setup, and how it has been used in the case of a modified truck.

Hard to give purchasing advice without knowing the price.

Asking $19k I say it’s high but with what’s done to it I’m not sure.

    How’s the frame look?
Better be rust free for what he’s asking.

i think I can get it for $17k or so. I’m pretty confident the frame is very good. Haven’t seen it way up close yet.

Only you can decide if it's worth 17k or not.

$17 sounds much better given the mileage and the potential for the 05/06 head gasket issues. Still high, but I know with the market the way it is, it’s not like you have a lot of options at the moment. I’m not sure if this is something you can do, but if you reach a reasonable figure, $17 sounds okay, maybe you can take it in for a PPI, to include having the head gasket checked (not sure if there is a diagnostic test for this, maybe someone can chime in)?
And check the frame, up close and personal like!

You could try a block test to see if there’s any CO in the cooling system and/or have a compression test done as part of a PPI.

Installed a Pop n Lock,,That's it !..Bone stock
The only fear I have about a 200k car is knowing how it has been maintained...That is the critical issue..You therefore have to trust the seller that he was as meticulous as he should..

Crazy to see these prices and that my 11 year old truck is still selling for what I bought it for a decade ago.

go for 07 and newer (skipping 2012 due to no shutdown purge of SAIS on the v6)

Seriously skip 05 and 06 for potential headgasket issues and frame caving in at motor mounts.

I’d offer 15. If the head gaskets been done maybe 16-17
