I really liked the set I had (except for in mud or rain) but aside from that they were great. I have KM3 on the truck now and they are great but they def are not has "user friendly" for when on pavement. Offroad they have been fantastic. Def louder and eat up gas more so than the KO2.

BTW...a wheel swap accidentally taught me that KO2s like wide rims. I had 7" rims when I bought the KOs....A few weeks later, I got new wheels that happen to be 8.25" wide. 100% improvement in how they handle on wet roads. (With same air psi)

In my 2008 2WD SR5 PreRunner I have Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires and I get stuck in 2" of sand at the beach. Might those KO2 tires make a big difference or do i need a new 4WD to be safe?

Did you air down? Like to <20psi? That makes the biggest difference in sand.

4x4 will certainly help, and it will be a much bigger help than upgrading from those LTXs to KO2s (but airing down properly will probably be the ticket)

Had NOT tried that. I plan to do some off roading where there's sand AND boulders so I need to cover ALL the bases as best as I can. If all goes according to plan, I'll hve a newer Taco before 2020 rolls around. One that can tow camper so I need to take towing tires into consideration.

Those Michelins are great tires and will do sand / boulders / towing no problem.....just air down in the sand!

Those Michelin tires suck in sand. The ko2's will perform waaaaaay better on both sand and the rocks. Airing down like others have said though is a first step.

You'll be stoked in a new 4x4 taco. Just put new tires on it right away. Cause the stock tires are kinda like the michelins. Good on the road, but terrible off of it.

Only downside with KO2’s is hydroplaning resistance when it’s dumping rain out.

    @Bluegrass Taco
Highway driving @60 mph with a lot of rain in the roadway had me going a little side to side, nothing really crazy but enough for me to clench my cheeks

This is all so fantastic intel for me.

Dare I open up a discussion on tire size? I’m not planning on a lift but happy to ditch the mudflaps lol.

Not really sure how else to say it. I came to post about the NRGs, but someone already had so I affirmed their post.

I live close to the beach and been driving on the beach for 30 plus years. BFGs are great tires, last long but are horrible to keep balance. Our local 4wd shop hates putting them on Toyotas and sometimes refuses because of balancing issues. I run Toyo Open Country AT2s in a SL rating. Also a good old cheap ass street tire with no tread aired down to 17 lbs works best on the beach and floats over deep sand. I'm talking about deep sand that goes past your ankles when you step in it.

i had that problem with them, they came on my 2015 pro, also not very good in the snow,,IMO.. so i got rid of them, they look awesome, but i would never buy them.. running ridge grapplers now,, they balanced great, smooth and quiet at first,, still smooth ride, but getting too loud after 20,000 miles,, gonna ditch them next month..

I had K02’s on my previous Tacoma. Always had balancing issues. Rotated and balance every 5K. I now own Cooper STT’s. Only put a few hundred miles on them but the feel a whole lot smoother than the K02’s. Noise level is slight.

Noise level of STT PRO's will grow and grow. (2 sets, 55k and 25k.)EXTREMELY loud after 10 to 15K. I gave up on 2nd set at 25K because of noise. Went to KO2's. They're damn near silent compared to STT's

ALL tires seem wonderful when they're new

I figured they would get louder over time.
