I was pleased at " how quiet they are for mud tires" at first. By 2nd rotation they were screamers....

Found a good rotation pattern that helped....

LF to LR. LR to RF. RF to RR. RR (or spare) to LF.

So many comments about these tires. Some good and some bad. I look for older comments about products so I get info from folks that have used a product for awhile. I can handle some screaming.

STT PROs are about as good as it gets as far as a mud tire. Damn good road manners. Rotate as often as possible. We do 25k to 30k travel miles a year.

No. I have been nothing but impressed with the KO2s. This site gave me a ton of information to help me make the choice but also provided access to a shiton of people who scared me. While I’m having a seemingly unrelated balancing issue, the tire itself is great. Dare I say softer than stock and grippier.

BFG KO2 tires are good tires because they are made by Michelin. The KO2 was the only tire that fixed the vibration problems with my 2018 4Runner.

    Like, so many.
I feel like for less money you can get an equally good (better?) tire.

Think we are looking for the same exact info. My plan is to buy something during the Labor Day sales, but I haven’t a clue what it will be. Every time I think I know what, I read something else that sways me.

I've had two sets of STT PROs. They dont "embarrass" KO2s off road. Not even when they're new. That's just silly talk. STTs are a good MUD tire. They are mediocre in rock. Downright poor in hardpack or dry conditions. Not a great sand tire either. The fall off in traction once they start to wear is quick By 20k they're ready for the dumpster. BTDT....

Mud tires are louder than A/Ts.... no secret. STT PROs get RIDICULOUS loud once they start to wear.

Mud tires are a trade off....you get SOME increased traction when they're new at the cost of bad road manners, low life span, and miserable gas mileage. After 18 different 4wds since my first (1973) probably 100 different tire styles and brands, and a shit-ton of off road miles over those years, I'm not a big fan of noisy, mediocre tires.

Ko2's are probably the best all around tire on the market. They wear well, have great winter traction, okay-good wet traction, decent braking and handling... etc. But, the downfall of the Ko2 is sizing availability and weight in specific sizes. If you run 17's the load C 265/70r17 is plenty light enough to not hurt your mileage too much. I personally run Toyo AT2's now because i have 16's and the toyos run 44 lbs a piece. Cooper AT3's are a great option too and if you get the 4s line they are 3 peak snowflake rated, yes they do not look as aggressive but ultimately get the job done.

Toyo, bfgoodrich, cooper, and Michelin all make good tires and it just matters what is important to you.

I had the K02’s on my truck for two years and about 26k miles. Always had a slight vibration a few hundred miles into a balance and rotation every 6k. They were not easy to get the balancing spot on.
