Just had a level lift done this week. a 2 1/4 " kit for the front

The rear seems to be "squatting a bit " in this picture. Is it just me or maybe the lift is only a few days old and the front suspension has to relax a bit? I have about 150 lbs in the back but i doubt that would make rear squat much.

or should i be looking at having 1" blocks installed in the rear to raise it a bit .

150lb will drop back down 1/2" to an 1" You can do 3 leaf progressive add-a-leaf (1-1/2 without overload 2" with), or blocks. 1",1-1/2" would work. All depends if you want rake. Should get extended length shocks also with over an 1" lift in back.

3 leaf AAL with the overload kept in will give you about 2 inches in the rear.

My truck with 2 inch lift front and rear retains factory rake even with a tool box and 100lbs of stuff in the bed.
    4 days after lift.jpg

Wheelers Offroad and Headstrong both sell them, no need to overpay just because it says Icon on it.

Thats the end result i am looking for as well, your truck looks great :)

I had about 130lbs total of tube sand bags for winter traction i took out and that helped bring the ass up a bit but i took some measurements and ive got about a 1" squat toward the rear that needs dealt with. So i figure a 2" lift at least with an AAL should take care of it.

I got a few quotes for the AAL and waiting on the dealership to give me their numbers as well for about a 2" lift. But this is a definite install in the next month or so. Just blew a wad on other customization on the truck so i got to get that paid off first..

thanks very much for all the input .

Hey OP, I’m dealing with the same issue right now. I just ordered the wheelers progressive 3 leaf system... I was in between that and the Dakar’s because I want the factory rake back. I have just a 1/4 inch spacer up front but I sag pretty bad because of the canopy and decked drawer system in the back. I’ll post pics of the wheelers installed on here to give u a before and after idea if u can wait a week or so for me to install the 3 leaf pack.

Why’d you go with the 3 leaf over Dakar’s? I debating between the two as well. Someone told me Dakar’s are worth the extra couple hundred

I was mostly motivated by price... however when I go in to pick up my pack I’m gonna talk to the dude about Dakar’s and get some more info. From my understanding the same lift is achieved so the only thing that would change my mind is if travel is improved or ride is better

Here's a second question and thank-you for answering. I am learning more and more with every answer and post ive read on many subjects :)

Instead of AAL or spacers ( i am looking at the AAL solution)

what about Just swapping rear stock shocks with a pair of Bilstein 5100 shocks set to a 2" lift instead?

Rear bilsteins are not adjustable, you either get standard or extended length shocks but it's the leaf springs that lift the rear. Extended length 5100s shocks are needed for anything more than 2 inches of lift by the springs (or blocks).

ahh they work with the coil over suspension only to lift. Got it.

    Thank-you for clarifying that.

Ok.. back in for one more opinion. been doing my homework./

I am kind of settled on a set of 2" blocks. Was looking at an AAL but i dont really need extra capacity just want a bit more height and get rid of that annoying bro-lean it has going on after my level lift.

I was debating installing Sumo springs as well with the list blocks in the rear .Anyone else have this combo or can give me feed back on it? I am researching like crazy but youtube videos only go so far.

Not a bad price. (CANADIAN $$) $197 for the blocks + $94 for the labour to install and $397 for the sumo springs so a total with taxes of aprox $750 installed. I know i could do this myself..but i live in an apt and the parking lot sucks to do any work in. The dealership i have used for years will install that way i have no issues with my 8year/200,000km extended warranty.

Yes, you can use Sumo springs with blocks, you want the 612 series Sumo's 40's are 500lb, 47's 1000lb Don't know Canadian to Us dollar exchange, but blocks with U bolts here are $100 a set, and Sumo's at $200 a set. Install around $100, very simple job about an hour, taking your time.

Still not a fan of blocks over AAL or replacement leafs, might make you more susceptible to axle wrap. Not sure if sumo springs negate that though.

At that price I’d look at what a Dakar EL095R leaf pack would cost. It might not be much more money but would be exponentially better than blocks and Sumos.

the sumo springs should help the axle from dropping and creating that incorrect angle on the shaft that causes the axle wrap when i accelerate ..+ i dont know if 2" is enough to affect the shaft angle to have the problem. I could just put a couple of (i think) 8mm spacers and drop the carrier bearing down a tad should help fix that angle as well.
