Advice I’d give is save and keep you eyes peeled for a sub 200k mile 1 owner truck for 12-14k - I’m not sure where you live. That could make that difficult or easy based on regional prices though.

How can you say the frame is good when you did not get under it ? Truck has too many miles.... I would not go for it. A future with that truck could be an adventure.

I would say no because of the miles and the price. But you are putting only 4k miles on the truck a year? For that i wouldnt mind if the price was right but the price isn't there for this one.

18k mile average per year so it has not been left to sit around parked and rott away

aren't these trucks bulletproof and can go easy 1 million miles with not much issues if well maintained?

I think $9K is too much, maybe $7K. But the odds are good that it has a lot more miles in it. My 2007 is at 247,000 and I'd drive it cross country tomorrow. But I'm the one that put the miles on it and know it's history. I wouldn't sell my truck for $7K. But I wouldn't buy one just like it for $9K from someone.

There are some million mile Tacoma's out there. But I'd have to buy it at a price where I could afford another engine or transmission rebuild.

The million mile taco was actually a 2.7 4cylinder and it went almost 900k miles before he blew a head gasket so he got a junk yard 2.7 with 100k miles and put another 700k miles on that one before the owner died

as far as I’m aware the highest mileage 4.0 tacoma was 500k here on tacomaworld the guy sold it and said the new owner had about 600k and then the guy stopped posting on here

IMO pre DPF/EGR diesel and gas non turbo 90's were the perfect mix for million miler. After that the greener than thous shot themselves in the foot with virtue signaling pretend E.V.'s.

The transmission can be rebuilt and a low mile engine from a scrapyard can be installed for well under $10K, maybe closer to $5K. Even if he pays $9K for the truck and has to spring for major repairs he will have less than 1/2 the money in it that a new one would cost.

Personally I’d rather have to put 10k into paying off a new one than put 10k into a truck only worth 7

Coming from someone that put 160k plus miles on a new 22 in 16 months that’s a hard pass. You have no idea of the use or abuse that truck has suffered.

I think it's more about the price than the mileage. If it was exactly what I was looking for, I'd have to ask myself what I'd pay for 300k miles and that's probably about 4-5k.

If you rolled the dice on engine/transmission care history and got really lucky…price is still way too high.
