Whats really amusing is Chevy and GMC is winning this "new" vehicle quality survey these days.
Guess who always wins the long term quality ?
"Oh but its different this time round"

That's like those terrible commercials they run with the people that look startled when another Chevy pops up from nowhere and the guys says "blah blah blah highest satisfaction in new car quality blah some shit". Even shittier cars are good on day one. Not sure why that's a good stat to run on.

Are you crazy! Why in the heck would you trade a perfectly good 2015 for a bunch of problems?

I did. So far truck is doing great. No issues. No leaks. Shifts good. Tranny deal. I usually run 5th in town or on curves an hills. Put me on highway an its 6th gear. So far on my first solid tank of fuel. Miles divided fuel used according to next fill up. 23.4 MPG.

Traded in my 01 Taco last month and bought the 17.

    Absolutely love it.

Best mid size truck on the market in my opinion, and it fits in the garage.

So there's a recall? So what. Most cars st some point have a recall for one thing or another. The transmission is FINE. People complain that it shifts too much but it has six gears, it's doing what it's supposed to do to give you good gas mileage. If you stomp on it, it goes and if you're in a really hilly area, that's what the ECT button is for. The thing looks tough as balls, fits the whole family, fits in the garage, still gets decent mileage especially for a truck and has the capacity for me to pick up shit from Lowes without having to put a buddy out and bum a truck to haul whatever it is I am dealing with. It's a no brainer man, get the truck.

I'd say go for it! I've been driving Toyota since '02, and they haven't dicked me over yet. I traded in my '00 Tundra and got a brand new '17 TRD Sport. I absolutely love it so far, but I've only put about 500 miles on it.

Test drive one.. see how you like it!

I went ahead and picked up a 17' Pro a few days ago. Based on what I read here, I almost didn't do it.

Got into one, and not a single issue or complaint related to anything I have read here. I spent 6 hours detailing it, which gives you a really good idea of the build quality. And I have to say the panels are aligned really well. Fit and finish is on par with my BMWs.

Shifts butter smooth, zero complaints. More than sufficient power for reasonable driving, ride is smooth and comfortable. No leaks or anything.

My only complaint so far, is the headlights blow. I mean, for a MSRP of $53,100 here in Canada, they could have done better. All of my other cars including my 2015 VW Jetta have HIDs, and now that I am accustomed to them, halogens seem useless. This thing even has LED driving lights. They really should have done better on the headlights.

I'll offer my data point. Had it for two months, no issues whatsoever. Buy the truck and enjoy it. Forums tend to make issues seem more common. Also take a good hard look at the naysayers.....some of them don't even own third gens, they just have new gen envy or they just want to be a miser.

Do test drive it extensively or try to find someone that already owns one.

Love my truck, no regrets so far. The issues people complain about are minor compared to other vehicles I have owned in the past. I just find it funny that people will buy a first year totally re designed vehicle and then be surprised when there are small kinks that pop up. If your that worried wait 2 years.

I read the forums on here before I bought my truck and they almost prevented me from buying it but when you take a step back and realize its a very small group of people making all the noise it changes your view. Love mine so far and glad I got it

Love mine so far. Have had none of the problems others have reported but I got mine late. So after the problems were known and fixed at the factory. As for insurance, I'm paying less than I was for my Camry. And it had all the safety bells and whistles. I'd say go for it. It's a great truck.

Get one but get a TRD you'll be more satisfied coming from one. Interior is nicer and better seats. If your not taking it off road why not get a sport? The SR5 is the same money.

Recalls yes but you have warranry and roadside..

Insurance is cheaper than my Subaru ever was lol and 4 points

Do it! I love my sr5
23k miles and haven't had an issue with it! No leaks. Shifts good even with bigger and heavier tires.

30,000 + Miles on my 7559 (Sport/AC/MT) - It if were totaled tomorrow, I'd re-order. A for the Tranny - Do yourself a HUGE favor and by the 6 Speed MANUAL and avoid all issues.

Not sure about OP's high insurance quote.....we have a 17' TRD OR DCSB and it was $65/month when we added it to the policy
