    Good.

When dealers pull that kind of stuff, IMO it is a sign that they take our business for granted.

Nothing like a good threat to get them to understand that we have options.

About 10 years ago my Dealer got a specific Tacoma for me thru trade with another dealership. For some odd reason they parked it on the front sidewalk and tied balloons and advertising signs on it knowing they couldn't sell it to anyone else.

The last two people I know who bought new cars both purchased an extended warranty from the dealership. One person bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the other bought a new Toyota RAV 4.

Both of them complain about how much their monthly car payments are.

Maybe so but, you don't really think Toyota lost $ at that price do you? They never lose money. My wife just got a new RAV4 they quoted around the same $1200 range for the 6/125000 EW I let them know we only paid $750 for mine. After them looking at mine in the system, guess what? Bingo, same price for the RAV.

Like I've said before, it probably depends on dealerships. Some work with you and others just look at you as the next victim.

I have actually had Toyota cover things on vehicles that were out of warranty without asking. I have had numerous instances of "good will" repairs on my Toyota vehicles. Nothing but great experiences.

If you want to talk about shitty experience, we can talk about my 2015 Yukon XL that is a piece of shit and GM will do anything to get out of repairing anything they can.

The extended warranty is just gravy for them, pure profit if Toyota doesn't cover any repairs, so yeah, I don't think they lose money. The scams in the F&I office are holy.

I just bought a car, from an upscale brand. Was in the F&I trying not to nod off as he went through the products spiel. Came to the extended warranty, which of course was being sold at cost because the dealer and manufacturer are charities that are looking out for you. But wait! The warranty, which is provided directly through the manufacturer, was 1300 instead of 999. I didn't intend to buy it at the time anyway, but I asked about the discrepancy. Whaddya know, it was just a computer error. The irony is that the whole experience apart from that one thing, which I just internally laughed at, was. overall, really nice.

It’s funny how the salesman spends one hour showing you such a piece of marvel, only to spend another hour listening the F&I manager trying to sell you this and that to hold together that piece of crap you are buying.

^ It didn't actually happen this time; it was a very soft sell, the F&I guy tried to play the nonchalant act, but that exact same thing "car will fall apart two seconds after your warranty ends" spiel HAS happened on every new car I've ever previously purchased.

No undercoating push this time, but I do believe scotchguard was offered at cost (space age can that retails for $500 bucks).

    Amusing.

The F&I Manager at the Toyota dealership wanted to sell me a windshield insurance among many other things. Her quote was “if you ever have to replace that windshield it will cost $1,600.”

“I’ll take my chances” was my reply.

    Fingers crossed!

Apparently the windshield has a bunch of sensors and stuff built into it.

Either way, dealers would sell you toilet paper insurance if they saw profit in it.

Ah, you have the TSS nonsense, right? I think it's stock on everything 2018 and above? I found the Subaru Eyesight system to be the least obtrusive of all of them, but then they have gone ahead and added that stupid driver attention camera which scans your eye to ensure you are looking at the road.

Thanks everyone. Funny story - turns out a distant relative used to be a Toyota sales manager. Apparently, even he says “no”. That kinda seals it for me.
