I took home a 2009 Tacoma SR5 TRD Sport Double Cab 4x4 and am trying to decide if I should buy. The truck is certified pre-owned and has 27K miles on it. I negotiated the truck down to $27,900 and am getting about $1,500 over recommended for my trade in. You guys think the sale price is reasonable or should i go back and ask for a better price. The dealer apparently owns the car for more then what they are selling it for and is willing to show me the documentation. I feel like they always say that but who knows. What do you think?

Way Way to high. Do you have a Costco near you? Their dealers sell 300 over invoice all day long. Now with the discounts expect bigger discounts.

Ok, so they are giving me a lot more for my trade. I looked at edmunds last night and they suggested low 9s for a trade in and I negotiated it up to 11,700.

I also looked at edmunds for the suggested price of the truck and that ranges between 25,900 and 26ish. At the end of the day if i get it for 25,900 it will improve my payment about 30 bucks a month. You think I can negotiate 2gs out of these fools and is it worth it?

two other things. Since the truck is CPO, I get a 7yr 100,000 warranty. I also looked at some other dealerships and the asking price for a similar truck is about 29ish.

Do not buy the warranty from your dealership. You can buy it here from some members working at dealerships at 1/2 the cost after the fact. Just do a search.
That is a 2 year old truck with 27K, what is trade in on Edmunds 22K? That is what he paid or close to it. Do not trust him if he is saying he selling it for a loss at 27K. Be prepared to walk away, you can get a truck next week or next month way cheaper. 2011's are piling up shop by internet with fleet guy. 27K is high miles, you will need tires soon and they are not cheap. I know you will not like my advice but I will give it to you anyway. Keep driving the old car for a few more months, throw down extra cash on the loan until you can sell it for what your loan is and shop then. Good Luck.

That price is high. For what it's worth, I went on USAA's car buying service, entered in a 2011 Double Cab 4x4 Manual Transmission SR5 TRD Sport Package with the JBL system and it came to $30,607 brand new.

I think you got a good deal.
I bought my 2010 TRD Sport long bed, 4x4, blue tooth 29,300 but I lost 2,000 on my trade...
It seems like a fair deal. You still should ask them to take some off, but if not, just get it... You can not find a nice used 09 for much less than that anywhere... In fact, that is why I bought a brand new one!!
    Good luck.

It is harder to find that truck but I agree with jw72
I used to sell these things and trust me u don't overpay on a trade and lose money on the deal, especially on a used truck. U can get 0% or a huge rebate soon. Just my. 02

if the 27K and change is including any negative equity you owe on your trade then its a good deal, otherwise buy a new one for under 30k with close to zero miles
