I have been told by a tire expert I know that new tires can be bought for different conditions . I also do not know how I will feel when I look back at my Tacoma when walking away with the different tire types . What do I buy and how good will I feel with each kind ?

You're gonna have to give more info. What do you plan on doing with your truck? What type of driving conditions?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but how do we, complete strangers to you, know your feelings on anything?

There are four basic types of tires used in the passenger vehicle world:
    1. Dedicated Snow tires
    2. All Season tires
    3. All Terrain tires
    4. Mud Terrain tires

Each class of tires listed above contains hundreds of choices and tread patterns and selling points. For example you can get an All Terrain tire that is very much like an all season tire and you can get an All Terrain tire that is very close to a mud tire.

In addition, you have all kinds of price points. You need to examine your intended use first. Then look at what type of tire would be best for that application, then you need to look at specific tires, check what you can afford and then research it online.

Most tire manufacturers have some type of general questionnaire on their website that will select the type of tire you need, based on how you answered your questions.

    Good luck.

clearly he's not a tire expert if he doesn't have the perfect match for you and your feelings. find a new tire expert. tried the craigslist missed connections area for best results.

ps.... post #5 is the real answer here... lol

I have been driving for a long time and never knew that tires was such an expansive subject...also learning.

Happy my tires still have at least another 2 years (knock wood) before I need to decide on new ones, lol.

It does not seem that long ago that tires damn near outlasted the vehicle lol. All you needed was a couple of snow tires , and switch the front to the rear regular tires each spring . Then the car rusted out and a new car was needed before new tires were needed.

Yeah, anybody who had the privilege of riding in a new car during the 1970's knows the true meaning of "planned obsolescence", lol

Who here can make even an anecdotal comparison, between 3 or more sets of tires? Very few I'd imagine...
I know why I swapped tires at 200 miles and that's all that matters to me.

I could do 4 I think. And that feeling is subjective. For me, those STT pros bring that feel. A corvette could pull up next to me at a stoplight and I’m like “bitch please this is a Tacoma”

AT3 I see... I used those for a few wet seasons, they were awesome. I remember doing a 100* turn at a good speed in the rain wondering if they’d break, nope. Very confidence inspiring, I switched out for mud play.

This is my 5th set. I usually have to get a new set every 18- 24 months at around 50K. Excellent tire at a good price. $137 installed today.
