Should I buy out my 2017 Tacoma or star a new lease with a 2019 or 2020

Not sure we have enough info to really say but leases on a Tacoma right now are silly. The residual values on the 2019 for a two year lease are mid 80s. If you have an aggressive dealer who wants to discount off msrp, and have good credit, you are diving a brand new $40,000 truck for (in my case) $240/month and that includes tax. That’s a hard number to beat. No oil changes, no new tires, no brakes, no warranty exposure, no diminished value in the event of an accident etc. Yes I will end up paying $5760 over the next two years to drive this truck but as all have said a car is a depreciating asset. If I were to buy the truck my sales tax alone would be over 2k. At these residuals I don’t see how it makes sense to buy but that’s just my opinion.

You can continue your lease on a month to month basis if you keep making payments and wait for the 2020 to turn your lease in

Agree with 4x4 as resale importance depending on where you live. The 2020 feautures are way more than safety sense that will help resale. Is it really a financial gain? Probably not but assuming it never gets wrecked, 10 years after owning 2017 or 10 years after owning 2020, the 2020 will.be higher value for those said features.

Why I say depending on where you live for 4x4:
In Washington state, the dealership would literally not even take my pristine condition low mileage jeep cherokee because it was 4x2. Fast forward to me living in flat land, I had to drive 2 hours to find a 4x4 OR in Florida. 4x4 is only for mudders down here or those on beaches. No issues selling 4x2 here at all. Its so weird but its the norm because its not necessary at all.

The dynamic cruise control is one of the best things about my 2019. I love it. I wouldn't trade a 2017 just because of that though.
