I'm not sure I understand OP. He says he needs a car right now but then talks about waiting for a 2023 (minimum 8-9 months before they even start arriving on lots).

OP - either you need a new car right now or you don't. If you need a car NOW then get the 2022. If you WANT a new car now, but can wait, then do whatever you want.

Its not that they're unreliable, its just small issues like the blower motors on the first 3rd gens. My 17's went out 3 times, but since they already knew it was an issue since the 16's they quickly replaced them. The 16's took longer to get fixed, and some people even had to pay out of pocket for it and get reimbursed later.

Or that the bean counters drive the bus and demand transmission and differential coolers shouldn’t be installed in a 526 hp, flat-plane crank race car but they are for all subsequent MYs…

Well there is conflicting info. You either need it now or you can wait a year? :goingcrazy:

    Here is a consideration.

Find a low mile used econo box to drive for now. Your gas budget will appreciate it.

Then when the '23 comes out, you'll know if you should pick up that, wait another year, or pick up a leftover '22.

When you decide, you might decide to also keep the econobox, depending on your physical environment, daily use patterns, etc.

When I purchased my 2021 in November, the sales person told me the same thing in relation to a hybrid Tacoma --2024 model year-- although with the caveat "this is what we are being told" and "Toyota will be watching sales of the hybrid Tundra to gauge interest". Sales talk. I am sure that a hybrid Tacoma is in the making no matter what. I figured I can always trade in the 2021 at any point. ICE enthusiasts will not be just poofing away with the introduction of a hybrid.

2024 is just a Rumer for new taco, Toyota never said a thing about it. Toyota was showing the timeline in 2020 as 2022 new Tundra, 2023 new Sequoia, 2024 new 4R, but no new taco yet. I don't think Toyota will release two new models at the same year. So technically, new taco the earliest would be 2025, which is also matching the 10 year per generation as last two gens.

Not a rumor dude, the mule has been spotted already in camo and multiple industry inside sources confirmed MY24. You can’t go off 2nd gen as there was a lack of competition, recession, etc. Toyota does not wait 10 years for life cycle normally, just look at the other models excluding 4Runner and Tundra/Sequoia, as these all are now part of the new TNGA-F platform that was in development.

This guy! This is exactly my mentality with buying my 2022...when the redesign comes out it's time to take advantage of the high resale value. Also life is short...try new things so I traded my jeep in for the taco.

I got the first year of the second generation tacoma.. It lacks any kind of "traction control" has a 6 disc changer and no back upscreen or USB port anything.. Clutch even came with a cigarette lighter!!!!!

comfort wise my gen 2 is more like a gen 1 taco. But look under the hood and she still sports that 4.0 v6

Tacobuffet is correct! Lots of spied videos and threads on the inter web https://www.motor1.com/news/540880/2023-toyota-tacoma-spy-photos/
    https://tfltruck.com/2021/10/2023-toyota-tacoma-spied-ford-ranger/

I'm hoping the 4 cylinder turbo (better MPG and power) or a hybrid engine comes out... fuel economy is crap on the tacos. Also for the air or coil rear suspensions which is what the tundra has. And maybe... just maybe 2-3 inch of rear leg room more than the current double cab and they can finally call it a crew cab... finally! So my kids stop kicking the back of my chair which is close to the most annoying thing in the world on a long drive. Alas one can only dream so much.

I tend to agree, whatever people are "seeing" in camo is probably a test truck. Remember that toyota just promised us a Electric Tacoma with the concept cars unveiled last month.
Toyota isn't going to release a new Tacoma in 23 or 24.. and then release a yet brand new one in 25 or 26.. it doesn't make sense. My guess, they will wait and roll the tacoma as the first all electric redisign somewhere around 25. Followed by 4runner tundra ect
