Should I buy this 2014 Tacoma TRD Off Road?

Hey guys! What I have here is a 2014 Tacoma TRD DCSB 4x4 MGM paint with about 63,000 miles on it and what looks like some good upgrades. The dealership will be selling it for about $27995. The deal is that I would be trading my completely stock 2015 Tacoma SR5 DCSB 4.0V6 4x4 for it that has about 62,500 miles. I would like to upgrade this Tacoma I have, but I think that by the time I achieved what this truck already has off the lot I would be spending a lot more money than just trading in. Can you take a look at these pictures and tell me what you think? I am especially concerned because it looks like they just went with a spacer lift in the back and I am going to want to use this for off-road/overlanding, so I already know that I will be needing to swap out the rear with an AAL or full leaf pack from OME etc. I can also say that the steps would be replaced with a true load-bearing slider set, the 18" rims would eventually go in lieu of 17" rims with larger tires for more side wall. It also looks like the did some cutting/trimming in the front to make the larger tires/wheels fit. Thank you for your help in advance! Not understanding why you’d want to trade in your essentially same truck for that one. Is the only difference SR5 vs the new one TRD? It’s not going to be worth whatever ripoff trade deal you’ll get.

Also I think that’s a bit over priced. I just bought a 2015 TRD Off Road 4x4 with 26k miles in April for $23.5k. Certified Pre owned from a Toyota dealer.

The amount of money you’d lose on that deal you could spend on a decent lift/wheels and tires and you’d have a better truck than a stock TRD OR.

You'd be spending more by trading it in. Seems like your planning on getting rid of all the upgrades that the new truck will come with, might as well keep your truck and just add all the trd options if thats what your looking for.

Mainly it was to get into the TRD Offroad. But already I am seeing that it is not a good idea. It already looks like from what I am reading that the RevTek lift kit is bad news and that the spacer in back is only really useful for pavement princess action and light off-road use. Exactly Ryan2103a, I don't think any of these supposed "upgrades" would even fit my intended use case and that I would end up swapping out for something different anyways, so I think that I have already made my mind up that I wont be getting this. Still curious from an academic standing what people think of this set up :taco:

Post up some pics of your truck. I think the 14 is overpriced and what are they giving you for your 15 ?

I am sure whatever they would be willing to give me would not be enough, KBB Trade in says 22,000. I am definitely not going for this specific truck anymore. Here are some pics:

Don’t make that trade. It’s crazy to even consider it.

It is more along the lines of having the electronic rear locker. I am thinking of either going ARB lockers when I get on board air installed or an electronic rear locker. I think that the dollar difference on upgrading my truck versus trading/buying a TRD off-road doesn't make sense, better to just upgrade what I have.

5100 set to max, pending LSD and TRD CAI
Spend $6000-$7000 more for a news new off-road 4x4 makes much more sense.

You have 4x4 which is cool, the only big thing you're missing from the TRDOR trim is the rear locker. You could add that if you want, even a front one if you wanted that too. Its not the cheapest thing in the world but seems like a better option IMO. You have really nice low mile truck. I love black trucks.

Im in Southern Oregon too @OregonStockoTaco. That dealership is known for playing games with their prices. I have a 2012 TRD Sport that I got new for 32500 back when. Last time I took it in last year I only have 54k on it and they offered me 20 for it, and I asked the guy I went to high school with what they would price it for and was told 30k. Keep what you have, and make it what you want it to be instead of going to that dealership.
