Wasn’t sure where else to post this.. I’m looking at an 86 model in as close to perfect condition without being perfect condition as you can get. Zero rust. Runs like a top. I know the owner personally and everything has been gone through and replaced if needed. Only thing is, he and I are pretty sure it’s not original. It’s been restored from the frame up. That being said, it’s been restored correctly and seems to have been done by someone that knew what they were doing. All Toyota parts. Odometer seems to have been replaced considering the title says exempt in that area. My question is this.. Although it’s been restored, I do know it runs flawlessly and has zero rust on frame and body. Clean title. Is it worth 9k?

I want it very badly, it really is beautiful. I just hope the whole restoration aspect doesn’t hurt my resale value if I were to decide to sell one day. I’m very likely buying it tomorrow unless something/someone changes my mind. I believe it’s worth it for now.

Not worth 9K if you ask me but in your area and in today's market it may be. I can easily find a similar one here for 5K.

Clean title with questionable odometer doesn’t seem to jive.

Nice looking truck and prices are outrageous now. If you really want it, low ball a cash offer and see where it gets you. YOLO.

I wouldn’t have any expectations to get what I paid for it on the back end but then again, who knows?

    Good Luck

If that truck is as in good a shape as you say it is then buy it. Its worth the 9 thousand if you can live with that truck for the rest of your life.

Yeah, awesome looking little truck but I think resale would be difficult if you decided to sell later on. I think I’d be in the 6-7 range on that one

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
IMO 5.5-6.5 tops but if you’ve got $ burning a hole in your pocket then go for it

I'd pay $9k just to be rid of the carp mouth grill on the truck sitting next to it.

That truck would be worth a lot of money in Guatemala or Honduras. And I'm sure other CA countries as well.

BTW, the 'mileage exempt' reporting on the Alabama title applies to being over 10 years old.

Doesn't mean you are seeing the right readings, just that there is nothing legally nefarious.

While you say it runs well, I'd still have a compression and leak down test done prior to plunking down that much cash on something that old.

Carburetor? I think I’d try to find an EFI truck if I was spending that much.

There should be an EFI badge behind the door on the cab.

I’m not trying to pick it apart. Just trying to determine if it has fuel injection since there are no pictures of the engine.

Yes, carburetor. It has the 22r motor rather than 22re. I’m not a mechanic (not even close) so I don’t fully understand why EFI is so much better. Truck runs exactly as it should, but I do understand and am sure EFI is used in all vehicles now for a reason. I just don’t know the reasons. I drove it 30 min from his house to mine and she never skipped a beat. He’s put probably 5k on it since he’s had it and another 1k after I drove it.

If you plan on doing any offroading, fuel injection is much preferred - steep climbs and off camber situations with a carburetor can cause it to starve the engine of fuel

For just driving around town/commuting I'm sure the carb will be fine
