I test drove this tacoma Saturday and it is nearly flawless. I live in Alabama, so 4x4 isnt absolutely necessary.
I am being given a good deal on my trade in, and the financing is better than expected.
    Looking at around $425/mo.
Single owner. Locally owned and serviced.
    Should I pull the trigger??

    2020 TRD off road
    No accidents
    Single owner
    Clean

How many miles on the clock?

PS: monthly payment is irrelevant to us, that only applies to you!

The carfax history report is as clean as I've seen them. Like I wrote above, it was locally owned near where I live and serviced locally as well.
One owner, no accidents. Toyota serviced.

Part of it is the resale value. They wouldn’t be offering as good of a trade in deal if your current truck was 2wd. But on that subject, selling your current truck private party would almost certainly fetch you more than whatever they’re offering

SR5's in this range go for about $20-25k out by me. 90,000 miles is nothing on a Tacoma. This is not a bad deal. 4WD is unnecessary and eats into MPG unless you absolutely need it. In the long run, this is a good option for a daily driver commuter vehicle that has all the capabilities you need from a truck.

For reference, I bought my 2015 TRD Sport DCLB 4x4 with 30k miles in 2016 for that same price with a color matched snugtop shell.

One more thing I thought of OP. When I bought my first Tacoma in 2017, financing was really cheap (like 2% APR). I wouldn't have even saved that much money if I bought used, because the intertest rates on used vehicles was significantly higher at that time relative to new vehicles. I would at least entertain the idea of getting a new Tacoma and finding out what your financing options are for that. Because Tacoma resale values are so high, sometimes it makes more sense to just buy a new one over the long run.

Well, it has Michelins and generally that means responsible old man previous owner. You have that going for you. I’d be out just because of the color and 2WD.

These are wise words! Financing anything these days sucks, with one exception; new cars! If you walk in the door with solid credit, you might be able to score a favorable rate on a new car loan from the dealer's financing wing. Some makers (probably not Toyota) who want to move inventory will offer some crazy 0% APR loans. As stated, it might be worth looking into.

But as always, what the hell do I know!

Yes, kind of my thoughts too.
i prefer silver personally. Like my 02'. And i like the reassurance of 4x4. However, over last three years that ive had my 4x4 1st gen, ive probably used the 4x4, a couple of times. But it was nice when i did have it ill admit.

The michelin tires are part of the reason I really like it. Those are my absolute favorite road tire. Period. Tread is about 60% but enough to get by for a while.

Personally, I’d hold off unless you’re in some sort of rush. I picked up a bone stock 2019 4x4 TRD OR a few months ago for $29.5k with 65k miles. Same stats as yours as far as single owner, clean title, etc. and I’m in California…

I just bought a 2021 SR 4WD $1K less money and 40K less miles. I live in Indiana....There are a ton of Tacoma's on the market......I was worn out just looking. A friend of mine who owns a car lot advised me to buy a 4WD.....if for no other reason than resale value.....they are flat out worth more money and more desirable.

I would encourage you to not get in a hurry but, when you have all the boxes checked, then the decision is yours...I drove at least 4 or 5 different Tacoma's and, they were all very clean and low mileage. Prices were all over the place.....$28k - $36K

We all know the Tacoma, any generation holds its value like Crazy. That being said, I feel like 28,000+ for this specific Tacoma is outrageous. It may be a single owner, with the most detailed maintenance records a fella has ever seen, not one bit of rust on the undercarriage and clean as a brand new 2026 inside/paint wise... But the math just isn't mathing for me. I know inflation is WILD in 2025 and it isn't going to get any better. But if you currently own/about to own it within a reasonable time frame, I say pass on this one and keep looking. Just my two cents.
